Re: [Discussion Thread] Core Feedback - Specialists
- Do you feel that Specialists are currently categorized into their appropriate Class?
Yes.
- Which Gadgets and Throwables do you expect to see in the Loadout for each Class?
Doesn't really matter too much because this is pretty obvious. Anyone who cries about this is too concerned with nostalgia over the actual gameplay anyway which brings me to the next question's answer.
- Are there further changes to Specialists that you expect to see to help enforce Class Identity?
No. Infact there is a major request I need to make here and I will probably make it somewhere else as well:
PLEASE MAKE AN OFFICIAL MATCHMAKING SERVER CHANNEL WHICH MAINTAINS THE CURRENT SEASON 2 SPECIALIST/CLASS SETTING WHERE THERE IS WEAPON GEAR / GADGET FREEDOM. My point is the game is pretty good right now and any further complaints to make it more role based come entirely from people who wish to be pandered towards in game.
Examples of people who complain about the game but are actually just annoying:
-people who whine and complain to get aircraft and demand repair tools from everyone on their team
-people who whine for revives or think that it's the only way to win a match
-people who complain about anyone on any class or role that they don't approve
-people who complain that they die to someone using ANY specific specialist/gadget/gear/weapon combination
-people who complain that the maps or certain maps are too [insert factor here] but simply have no tactical understanding of how to combat that specific type of setting.
STOP PANDERING TO THESE PEOPLE DICE PLEASE. Every tiny complaint they make is absorbed by the youtube_for_views community, and used to make baseless points against your game that you have actually made some great improvements to. But please understand that adding more restriction into this game and calling it a class system won't make the game "better" for anyone.
If it was in the hands of these complainers like I've pointed out above, they would make it such that only engineers with repair tools would be able to enter vehicles and that if you're in the passenger seats, the only thing you can do is repair.
They'd make it such that if they so will it, there would be a limit to the amount of a certain gadget or class in a game (if you end up forcing gadgets onto classes, please don't do this) forcing people to play a specific class/gadget or even as far as weapon/loadout/type.
These people are known as jerks and they hate that other people want to do their own thing and have fun. They want the hard cut real world squadrons of a military experience but they won't play Arma 3 or that franchise so they come here to ruin the Battlefield title that isn't truly about that.
A battlefield can exist with different style of squads and make up and it happens all the time in the real world so these people have no idea what they're complaining about. Their need for battlefield style squads can be supplemented by playing older Battlefield games or doing something for that in portal.
Regardless, please make an official channel, 128 players conquest that maintains the current 128 conquest freedom settings you have now as an official matchmaking channel in the Conquest directory.
I'm not the only one who agrees with what I've written above. Even the people who are completely against what I'm saying can admit they feel like controlling the experience for others for their own sake. There are people having fun right now and we want to continue that.
The game still has issues but honestly, specialists are getting pretty balanced now and so specialists in general are not the problem. Mackay might be OP cuz he can batman sure. Sundance can bird around, ok. Paik is essentially wall hack psychic girl, k whatever. Rao magical hacker boy, sure. Maria Falck (spelling?) is the literal embodiment of the overpowered nature of the revive mechanic from previous BF games, so sadly we're all used to that anyway. Dozer's 1 touch shielding is obviously overpowered but eh.
Even if you were to not address these issues above, the game would be fine because all of that balances out. If you were to address it all and nerf everyone slightly, some people would complain about their favourite specialists being neutered. I love Sundance as she is and so I'd feel bad about a nerf but I'd get over it. I called out Paik players before the nerf and good ones can still abuse the wall hack she has anyway. Balancing the specialists will always been a struggle but in my honest opinion you're doing a great job
Mackay's zipline everywhere capability is essentially unnerfable, foot shot. If you didn't nerf Paik, I'd still enjoy the game and I'm not even a Paik player. But I will admit, I'm glad that you all nerfed Paik. I'll look into Mackay more cuz he's not really that strong so really, don't even worry about him.
- Maintaining balance between the Specialties and Traits of all Specialists is something that we continue to look at. Where do you feel we should be focusing on balance changes between Specialists?
This I sort of got into above just now. Honestly I think it's balanced as it is right now. In terms of balance between players, I was one of the first to bring up Soldier Aim Assist Zoom Snap being so overpowered on controllers to the point that it was essentially giving everyone who used a controller an aimbot. I didn't even have to use it to be able to tell. This issue may have been addressed but honestly I don't even know. That kind of pandering towards people is terrible, which is why Paik is so easy to mess up. tbh, she's got a 3D on screen overlay radar. That's all she is. It's still a wall hack though. You could've given her 3D radar upgrades her radar but it's too late now, she's wall hack girl and I think she's neat.
So very tiny nit pick things with the specialists as I pointed out in other answers above in this reply, or really leave them as is. Regardless, as I've said, the real issue is with how broken certain clientbase wide functions are in general like auto aim. Controllers should suck and force people to learn how to play. Auto aim as a crutch shouldn't be "press 1 or 2 buttons to suddenly be good at the game"
(games shouldn't even have auto aim, it's terrible pandering and crutch based design. Instead, games should have very sensitive settings to help make controller aiming more accurate for people who use that but have no auto aim at all. Sadly, since auto aim assist is like... everywhere, I suppose a compromise would have it be very weak in this game/franchise. The reasoning is that the controller can actually aim better than people think WITHOUT auto aim but these crybabies who need strong auto aim will never know because they don't have the self control to sit down and figure out how to actually aim properly with an analog stick or whatever other controller aiming input method they could use. Mouse is obviously way better for aiming and it should show)
More to come. (this was a very rushed reply, I'll break it down and reorganize it later. I have worries that people will make Season 3 worse by forcing you developers to make changes that will actually make the game worse) I know this whole reply I'm giving will get a mixed response, especially from the babies but the rest of you who see beyond the bandwagon tearfest on social media and video sites about this game, I salute you for enjoying the game rn. Peace. Keep up the good work Dice, EA and all other developers attached to this game.
