I Hope it's a temporary solution
as a solo player i'm so disappointed. the way games like this are going is disgusting. and never again i'll preorder an EA game...
This is straight up false advertising at this point. We were told that progression would be linked across all modes. It is irrelevant that players found an exploit in portal mode, to blame them is to shoot our selves in the foot.
It still takes an insane amount of hours to unlock everything for one weapon/character/vehicle, let alone everything. If they couldn’t foresee this than that’s on them.
How this effects SP/Coop, it doesn’t. There was no reason for them to pull progression from SP/COOP.
The reality is that we are seeing the standard greed that EA and the modern gaming industry is known for.
They realized that players will be able to unlock everything without competing online and thus, have no reason to spend more money on the “shop”.
They did this with battlefront 2, which had no offline progression, and would’ve taken tens of thousands of in game hours to unlock something as simple as Darth Vader. When exposed they backed off and eventually let allowed everything to be unlocked in an “anniversary edition” which was just one last attempt at a cash grab for another failed game years later.
BF 2042 is fairing out to be no different. To obtain any meaningful progression, players would need to spend thousands and thousands of hours to gain meaningful progress. Or spend more money. This isn’t cosmetic shiny skins but weapons, attachments, vehicles and equipment.
They can pretend their hands are tied, and we can pretend the bread crumbs we’ve been fed is a meal. But when games like COD allow for offline play with bots, and all unlocks available separate from MP. The choice is clear, they are intentionally forcing us to pay more money for a game that is nearly $100, unfinished, unpolished, and ultimately a disappointment.

If it hasn't been posted before, here the unofficial graphic on how it supposedly works right now.

Looks like Solo/Co-Op player are second class and Portal player third class.
----------
"All experience you earned in Battlefield™ 2042 is universal and shared across all its modes, which means you’ll be leveling up and unlocking new weapons, gadgets, and cosmetics no matter which mode you’re playing."
This is not valid anymore!
Please create an option for an game refund, because this was changed by EA/DICE after the official refund time was over.
"Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition" owner.
This above advertising sentence and the Solo&Co-Op mode where the main reason to buy this Battlefield 2042 too.

@l8008lawww, I had been looking forward to unlocking the tier 1 for certain specialists in order to hide their cheeky faces behind full face helmets.
I will absolutely get a full face helmet skin for every specialist I can.
Falck is the only one who is being a serious soldier from a dystopian future out of the lot with Irish being almost there as well. The rest are between slightly cringe to really cringe. Mackay takes the cake being someone I can vividly picture with a full on clown makeup from the way he smiles
 Hey All,
The senior design director for portal is looking for the top 3 items portal needs on twitter.
Please be sure to throw over your thoughts in a constructive manner although I know all of you will :-)
Myself it was for 127 BOTs and full xp-progression

Almost 2 weeks and still nothing in Portal at all. Love letter my *....
So will we ever get full progression (unlock tier 1 cosmetics) for solo/co-op again?
- USMC-LiZZy4 years agoSeasoned Traveler@l8008l Still as you linked is not what they promoted the game with.
The ppl who abuse portal from the start are very high lvl or even max and there keeping it. So the milk is spillt. It's just punishing the rest of us for something others did and they didn't see this coming.
And dunno if anyone noticed, if you play coop you are always US, that kinda a cap too since you have to lvl RU stuff on MP RU on Orbital, Trying to get my 60 kills for the 30mm for the Felon - but I know what you mean.

I'm currently getting progression towards those, in solo play with bots (not via Portal).
Also doing the requirements for various attachments, but for some reason they say they require X mastery to get (despite having fulfilled the kills required and having the weapon way above the mastery required).
Example:
Some attachment requires 90 kills and Master 4.I do the 90 kills and it tracks it just fine.
My weapon is at Mastery 7.
Attachment still isn't unlocked.
...but the tracker for something like Sundance's T1 cosmetic is tracking the kills I get with her grenades just fine. Went from 30-ish kills to 80-ish kills in a few solo matches.
No clue if it'll run into the issue I mentioned above, where it should be unlocked but just isn't, when I eventually get to the amount required.
 - @T4gger Kills will track and progress on all weapons and vehicles until you reach Mastery 12 which is Tier 3 and at that point you have to play MP to be able to progress further, Also if an attachment is shown being locked but you have reached the required amount just restart the game and it should be shown as unlocked.

I also just received this response from EA Help which is hardly as useful as another encounter I read about from another player here but what I expected. I realize this is likely a first tier customer service rep. You can tell by how poorly their response is written (likely a 3rd party call center) and the content. Not their fault necessarily as they work from scripts and only have the info they are provided by the company they are contracted by. Some will go above and beyond while most will just do what you see here:

FYI....
This was just announced a couple hours ago:
Solo/Co-Op and Custom Portal Experience Progression
We designed Battlefield 2042 to enable players to progress uniformly across the experience. Shortly after the release of the game, we observed a significant imbalance in the earn rates for experience (XP), particularly in Battlefield Portal where players created servers designed specifically to farm XP. Unfortunately, the limiters we had put in place were not working as intended. In order to maintain balance across the game, we temporarily disabled progression across Solo, Co-Op, and in Custom Portal Experiences.
This past weekend we were able to reintroduce those caps and developed smarter XP and progression caps that have allowed us to re-enable XP earned via Portal Custom Experiences.
We will continue to monitor for XP Farm Servers and take appropriate actions to remove them from the pool when needed.
The above are the issues that you’ve helped to highlight to us as most impactful to your experience whilst playing the game. We’re tracking all of our known issues over on the Battlefield Forums, and we’re grateful that you’re taking the time to share your feedback with us. - @Kean_1111 Im honestly very confused by what they wrote. They're making it seem like the current behavior is what is intended? As in kills still don't count toward progression in portal?

 - @Kean_1111 From my testing this weekend and yesterday, you get XP but mastery does not progress in Portal still. Mastery does progress in solo mode. This is what I'm worried/confused about. Unless they flipped another switch today without anyone noticing.

 - @Twennny Can you confirm if you can unlock weapon/vehicle upgrades/mastery in portal?
