Re: Realistically, what is your idea of "The Perfect Game"

@G-Recons This reinforces my post on page 1.

Take your BC2 level of destruction.

There are players whinging about the lack of cover on maps and you want any cover available to be destructible!

How the hell does DICE come up with a compromise for that that keeps everyone happy?

    Maps like St. Quintin?

is it so "difficult" to think of designing maps like these?

The answer is obviously no: but it is MUCH easier to program blank maps with a few skyscraper here and there and groups of indestructible containers ...

Although I am convinced that the "simplistic" design of the maps is mainly due to the (in my opinion) bad choice of reaching 128 players.

@Trokey66 We never had issue with cover in bc2 with all the destruction, their new maps sucks and that's why it won't be useful even if they fill it with blocks

@BlackSize23-ITA Where is the destruction in that map? 2 windmills, the barn type buildings and a few walls?

@G-Recons, yes there was! Halfway through the round many flags were completely flattened with little to no cover on them making capping bloody difficult especially with circle straffing helis.

Neither wrong but both contradict the other.

@Trokey66 They just need to hire real battlefield players to test those maps before releasing, i mean test the whole game.. and not content creator I'm talking about battlefield cavemen with their shbuckets

"some walls" (even if in reality it was possible to raze almost everything except the buildings on the flags ... but ok) is still better than the NOTHING we have now both in terms of destructibility and in terms of level design. ..

@BlackSize23-ITAThis is another problem with the 'community'!

You say there is 'NOTHING' in terms of destruction, even going so far as to put it in all caps, but it is objectively false. Many walls and containers etc can be destroyed in this game. This in turn opens up new sight lines for example that can change how a flag, if not map plays.

But then you would know that if you had actually played the game.

Is there as much as you would like! Obviously not, but it is definitely more than 'NOTHING'.

Maybe I will have to change my glasses ... Since, seeing my friends playing, I clearly saw containers taking bazookas, tank shots, or even jets that crashed and didn't even have a scratch.

But ironically I shouldn't even complain: in many areas of the new maps are the only covers ...

I have to say that I am very impressed with the open, honest and frank discussion that we are having here.  Some very good thoughts, suggestions and impressions are being shared.  My thanks to all of you!

One of the comments that actually struck a cord with me was one that I hadnt really considered myself.  The move to the wide open 128 player arena may be something that could have been made available instead of the focus for this release.  It could have been something that was offered in its own section or via the Portal.  The rest of the game could have, maybe, been scaled to perhaps a maximum of 64.  The maps could easily be adjusted through design to be as large as they are now but the boundaries of play could easily be adjusted to shrink the playing area.  Those boundaries would then be opened wider for the modes of play that permit the full on 128 player allotment.

One of the other "biggies" is the availability, or lack thereof, for voice communication.  It is virtually impossible to achieve "realism" if the ability to coordinate actions on the battlefield without fast and clear communication being available.  For me the game is almost a forced lone wolf style and with 128 lone wolves running around the game loses that which it is truly meant to be.

@BlackSize23-ITAThat, or get you friends to aim better.....

Edit:  Aah, you think I mean ISO containers don't you? No, I'm on about bulk 'fuel' containers and tanks etc.

  • My perfect battlfield would be a Battlefield V with some of the realism of games like Beyond The Wire/Post Scriptum/Hell Let Loose.

Core gameplay has to be right:

    * Infantry, teamplay focused - squad of five ppl, limited to 1 sniper; max. 40 vs 40 (or less)

    * Limited, but powerful vehciles

    * Slower, BF5, BF2042 has become an arena shooter and the main reason why BF5 has died so fast, not lack of content
