Pretty sure there are hundreds of posts stating why, you just need to look for them. Since you started this post, I guess that from your point of view specialists are better, but keep in mind you're the minority judging by the player base the game has atm.
If you want my 2 cents on the issue here it is. I hate the gadgets they have and the game feels like a hero shooter with all the wingsuits, grapple hooks, turrets, wallhacks etc. I hate the fact that they used them as a lazy design choice to have a laughable weapon pool instead of building a decent one for every class and it feels stupid seeing the same copy paste specialist face when fighting, at least with classes you had generic soldiers. I could go on but what's the point?

- @Man_iLoveFishing i've looked through it and i can't find an argument other than "i don't like it". i think people are just control freaks and want to force a specific set of rules on people *which you can already do in portal*
if they want to rework specialists to get rid of the stupid one liners and rework the cosmetics fine, i encourage that, but the player's ability to play to their strengths is fully realized with the freedom to pick your weapons and gadgets (at the end of the day specialists are just a gadget slot)

But the rules have to be fair.
All that these rules did in BFV is to concentrate most of the good things in one class (assault)
I am in opposition of any attempts to reduce Recon to Sniper ever again.
BF4 and BFV assaults are made with a similar recipe, only the focus is different.
The Recon is the amalgam of the two diametrically different classes Special Forces and Sniper of BF2. And this base DNA was still there up to the early concepts of BFV.
In BF2042 you most like find the Sniper DNA in MacKay, and maybe as a secondary role in Caspar, while Paik and RAO carry the Special Forces DNA.
