Maybe I am just a too soft old weak nostalgic BF Vet for this modern day and world...  :o)

    hehe hear you,

I am even a dinosaur from the time without PC, mobile phones and internet, and who maybe should consider retiring instead of running in the way of the young ones.

But even though I'm old, half blind and without reflexes, i'm still having fun in the right  game. Hopefully BF2042 is it. BFV was a huge disappointment.

    Hahaha @SirBobdk ,

The happy days I played Pong with/against my older brother back in 1973 are not coming back.  So though we may be the first generation ever that started playing 'competitive' games on our old B&W tvs, I hope we still can have some fun online with the younger stressed out entitled generation.  At least we may serve as canon fodder to keep the bots busy?  :o)

So don't play portal then. Just stick to the main game if you don't feel like you would enjoy it.

  • @mrdoom500 ITS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, no point in buying any other battlefields now, you can just have all of them in one! I'm so hype for this now

@mrdoom500Honestly, it was a bit underwhelming and I found it overly contrived. I mean… a Spitfire trying to dogfight a 5th gen stealth fighter…?

    Really?

    Agreed @carsono311 ,

Just because something is possible, doesn't mean that we should insist on doing it.

But OK, think we all screamed to EA that we wanted our BF sandbox back.  Now we got it!  So really looking forward to playing in it.  And sure we quickly will find out what might work well and what may break in the sand and quickly be left out then.  At least all the toys are there for us to try out, so let's go for it!

If it's a success criterion, then I'll probably score top marks. I'm pretty good as cannon fodder playing on the ground.

I assume the logic editor would allow a modding community to sort out things like weapon balance and obviously you could just exclude individual weapons for being over/underpowered.

It would be interesting to know if they did a balancing pass specifically as part of the remaster though or if they all keep their original balancing and behaviour.

Separating out the 2042 conquest/breakthrough into it's own mode from server creator probably helps with keeping official EA servers alive for the core experience. At least I hope it does as one of my problems with previous games was trying to find no admin servers with no map packs that you could just join and play without being micromanaged, and it became harder as time went on.

PAGE 2 of this discussion and not a single mention of "weapon-balance"....

How do you guys think this will play out?

Its to gimmicky for me and I enjoy the core-experience of the "olde" Conquest/Rush-gamemodes.

Not trying to find the hair in the soup, but info says the “experience” will stay up as long as there are players online.

Dunno why it’s such an impossibility for them to just let us have our own always-online servers. Maybe it’s a cost issue, who knows.

@VOLBANKER_PC It's the price to pay for keeping servers FREE! Some of us don't want to have to pay more money every single time we want to create our own Custom Games when we already paid $60-100+ for the game itself !!!

The other reason is if every server was allowed to be permanent it would end up overloading the servers that run this and would otherwise cost them a ton of money in the end to keep the empty servers alive.

So the solution for you is very simple.

Make sure that someone is always in the server to keep it up and running.

Or just recreate it with your saved settings when you get back on yourself.

You and your friends still get your own server just like in Battlefield 3 and 4. The difference is that it's FREE but is removed if no one is in the server at all.
