Scoreboard and broken points system discussion.

To the moderators – Please do not delete.

This could be a Bug, it might be a Technical Issue, but first and foremost it needs Discussion and that’s why it’s posted in this section.

I loaded in halfway through a match that’s in the attached screenshot. When I checked the scoreboard right before the match ended, something seemed odd. Take a look at the screenshot for yourself. Something is very wrong with the game scoring system to allow for that kind of point accumulation for doing nothing. The names in question are blocked out in the screenshot as not to name and shame. The screenshot is meant to bring the scoring system in the game into question, “not the players”.

Is something being exploited, is an in-game mechanic actively broken, is the game scoring differently for PlayStation users, or is what we really need a scoring system rework?

  • @Ironhead841This. Getting 100+ assists with Soflam isn't too uncommon if that's what the player is focused on. 200 is pretty impressive for a 30 minute match, but far from unreasonable given the number of tickets attackers have.

They're not "doing nothing", spotting enemies and locking onto vehicles is super beneficial for your team. The problem is that the whole "scoring system" doesn't really exist, it's a half hacked together system not reflective of contribution like previous BF games. So "spots" lead to assists which inflates that score so much.

You’re missing my "broken scoring system mechanic" point that I was trying to make.

No one should be able to top a scoreboard by just SOFLAM or spotting alone.

  • @SeriousJuJu Well, the fake scoring system in 2042 (i.e. the lack of an actual in-game scoring system by all appearances) is a separate problem that the fake scores on the map are highlighting.

I can agree that this shouldn't really be "intended" behavior to sit back and just SOFLAM the whole map, but this seems more the result of the fundamentally flawed design of the game across the board.

Topping the scoreboard just using spotting gadgets or other passive means is nothing new. Spotting flares in the last two games were an absolute xp bonanza and a few carefully placed supply crates would earn you loads for doing absolutely nothing.

The broken points system also directly correlates to the ridiculous progression system.

For Rao, you need spots, so the best way to T1 with him is to use the SOFLAM. You can T1 in both Rao and the SOFLAM in a few rounds.

I would have thought that adding physical damage would count as an assist.

I don’t think spotting should count as much.

  • Feels pretty reasonable to give points for spotting - it can be incredibly useful to your team. I can rack up quite a few with the SOFLAM or Casper's drone (although using the drone usually means you can't ADS again until you die...).

Yup that's how I did it. SOFLAM and the LATV is a good combo too if you're working on the achievement for getting a vehicle to T1.
