Season 2 early please?

I thought the point in a live service was to drip feed new content each week like bfv. If this is all season 1 is (1 map, 2 weapons, 1 specialist, and 2 helis) the game will die again before season 2...

    @SCUBASTEVE120 Then people complain the weapons are too similar and DICE is lazy : P

    They're working on some of the Portal guns coming to AOW (no specifics), but it still requires more work than just "Ctrl-C -> Ctrl-V", both because they're moving it to a different part of the game and they have to build out the functionality of AOW weapons with attachments etc. for those guns plus progress tracks etc.

    DICE just set themselves up for failure by launching a flawed, incomplete game, and apparently with bad tools to make quick changes, so they're still struggling to catch up and release content despite the studio being "all in" on 2042.

@SCUBASTEVE120The simple answer is yes, it is too much. DICE/EA's objective is to deliver what they are legally required to and no more. If they release Season 2 early, then they can't really fulfill a "year's worth of content." If I were a betting man, they have accepted player numbers to go no higher than 15K and as low as 2K (Steamcharts reference numbers) throughout the lifespan of the game (which ends in about 11 months for the looks of it). You MIGHT see some portal weapons show up mid-Season 2, but really the name of the game is placation and bug/map design fixes.  When the very leader of the organization says "We want to be a powerhouse in the FPS market in 3 years time," that tells me they are hedging their bets on the next Battlefield which is totally taking up the lion's share of devs at DICE even with the public face of "all hands on deck" for 2042.

@-DFA-Thump With this on their track record I don't see them ever being "the powerhouse of fps shooters" like they use to be I feel like it's been some what of downhill now they seem to struggle to win the players over. Like with bfv. Even though I love bfv most players didn't.

    @SCUBASTEVE120I agree. Their "desire to be a powerhouse" is speak used to try and "build morale" within DICE (glhf), and to "assure" the customers that DICE will actually try next time. The reality is that they are going to need at a minimum two solid releases for people to return in any quantity so as to place DICE in that "powerhouse" category. I don't think DICE has the team necessary to accomplish this, nor the degree of backing from EA to acquire the proper tech or hire those people that would be needed. There would also have to be a major shift in both DICE and EAs outlook on the franchise and how it compares to their nearest competitor(s) such as Apex Legends, CoD, and PUBG. By this, I mean that they have to understand BF is a franchise that does not have to compete in the same sub-genres but can still bring in competitive numbers as far as investors are concerned. There really isn't another game that does what BF2/3/4 or BC2 did/does. Battlefield is unique in this way but when dollar signs are in the eyes of CEOs and upper/middle management, the franchise suffers as it tries to emulate the "perceived competitors."

    Anyway you slice it, it's going to take more than 3 years for them to regain the trust of the people let alone gain that "powerhouse" status.

      @-DFA-Thump i feel like this may be out of reach. If they would make a bf game a platform and really build on to it. It would make them the powerhouse they want to be. They should've stuck with bf5 and gave an eastern front, Italian front, and then maybe end the games life cycle with a battle for Berlin dlc. They could do this with 2042. Especially cause it has portal along side the base game. I wish ea would get out of this "always need a NEW game" and use existing titles to build their legacy. Look at mmos and battle royales. I mean they want to compete in that market and they can't put good quality games out at speed like cod devs.

        Why are they silent again? I just wish they would keep adding more stuff. I know they wont but man I just want more BF weapons and maps
