Shouldn't the single cartridge reload Shotguns be able to interrupt and fire?

For me the biggest demerit of shotguns that do not have a magazine but you need to reload them one cartridge at a time while being unable to pull the trigger during this reload animation to interrupt the reload sequence midway.

On the other hand you can interrupt the reload sequence by swapping to the sidearm and back, so it is not a that the shotgun is not ready to be fired as soon as it has even 1 shell loaded inside it.

The experience of a single Cartridge load shotgun in BF4 seems so much smoother
