Going out into Guessing Land here.... but maybe when you are playing, there just are not many other "good" players out there.

IMHO, K/D is a stoopid metric. Not as stupid as Win/Lose ratio....but close.
Why do I say that? Well, I play as Support. Yesterday I just T1'd Falck, with my standard load-out of SFAR-M , a handgun, Weapon Crate and Grenade (Usually not used, as I have the incendiary Grenade on the AR. These days I'm playing Breakthrough, which is quite fast paced, of course.
I spend most of my time trying to revive people, shoot them with the health syringe, and dropping Ammo packs for people to resupply. As a result, I don't get too many kills - Hard to shoot folks with Shock Paddles in your hands. And, as everyone knows, often someone camps looking at your dead body, hoping someone comes to revive them, and then boom goes the reviver.
When I am not playing Support, I am an Engineer... jumping in aircraft to sit in that exposed seat to run the Repair Tool.
For both Support and Engineer, most metrics are irrelevant.
Win/Lose ratio? Well, that's going to depend on both your TEAM and the opposition TEAM. You can't control who your are lumped in with. So I ignore both K/D and W/L. In fact, I don't care about any "game" metric. (Too be honest, I've never been too good at FPS PvP, and I grew up during the Wolf3D/Doom/Quack era. Yes, I am old, and console (XBox) is just no comparison to playing on PC with KBM)
The only metric that is important to me..... am I having fun playing this game. If not, I'll switch to some other GamePass game.

OSpazX
*Edit for bad spelling and sentence structure!
There is no law in nature saying if you do your duty with revives and give health, your K/D will be bad as a result.
