So who's turning cross-play on?
I'll be playing on Series X and can stomach playing with Playstation but I'll be turning off cross-play with the dirty PC master race 👿 Seriously though after remembering getting destroyed in Shado...

We haven't had a beta yet, so it might be a mute point to discuss what we will do.
- we don't know, if we will have cross play
the result of the technical playtest may have even been, not to to support cross play at all - assume we get cross play, what possible options do we get
- currently imagined groups are
- gen 9 consoles + pc
- gen 8 consoles
- but there is already asked for options to play
- Xbox crossgen
- PlayStation crossgen
- does apply cross play to all three parts of the game the same way, or will be Hazard Zone a bigger pool gen8 + gen9 + pc
- Opt-in / Opt-out and what option will we have
- does that result in cross play / non cross play servers, or does it only work during matchmaking
- How will joining friends work

So many unanswered topics, we can't really discuss until we see something we can compare it to.
Maybe we encounter the people that start a match with a controller + aim assist and then switch to keyboard + mouse + aim assist, because the game didn't detect or react on the switch.
I know people from both parties (console + pc) want the option to opt out.
I assume the most likely reason is, that it becomes so much harder to spot the cheaters, since most players won't be able to recognize what is possible to do on the other platform.
I for my part will start with the default. And I expect that to be enabled crossplay when it will be available.
But taking my experience with COD:MW into account, I will be a candidate to disable crossplay, if I make the same experiences, or complain when I can't opt-out.
@kregora But we do a Dice dev on resetera cleared up the whole crossplay mixed wording tweet. Its all in or single platform.
If its got device input then what ever you select the other is dead. Can't swap mid game for example.
NO, we want PC crossplay to be OPT IN. not out. lol no1 will turn it off or know you can. Per the same dev 10% turn if off in other games.
- @kregora Seeing how DICE keeps promoting 128 player matches as the holy grail and even forcing a bot experience, combined with developers recommending to keep crossplay on - I very much doubt they will turn it off at this stage.
It's very likely that there are some issues with the crossplay feature now though and that has caused a delay.- @infantrypeasant in one of the Hell let loose vids i watched, it mentioned the game only has console crossplay because its a nightmare to optimize between console and PC. Obviously its not impossible as other games do it, but must be hard to balance guns, graphics, connection etc
- @ninjapenquinuk They should just straight up remove certain graphic settings for PC to where a plant doesn't look like a polygon, or that the game and maps look like roblox or some crap when the players are still high quality.
