Strategic imbalance between squad rushers and stealthers
Hello,
It looks like my previous message has disappeared so i write it again.
There are some ways in this game to use stealth tactics, some specialists are good for it, there are silent and discreet weapons, silent and discreet abilities etc.
Personnaly i like playing stealthy.
But my own squadmates annoy me like 90% of time when i am in position of shooting with say a crossbow after i spent 2 to 5 minutes building my strategy : they respawn on me, shoot mindlessly with loud firearms, explosives etc and that often just on top of my body. Most of the time we all die; and i am tempted to say, of course we do.
So to keep polite i'll just say our strategies don't go well together. They may enjoy the expendable respawn beacon i am, but they totally ruin my strategy. It feels like doing a chore for people you don't know and that don't care in an endless loop.
I have a suggestion to allow people to successfully perform a stealth operation with PUGS in their squad playing mindlessly : allow players to toggle whether they accept their squad to respawn on them : yes/no, in real time. So if i need reinforcements or just don't want to be stealthy, i allow the elephants to spawn on me. And if the position is not safe or if it would ruin my strategy, i want to be able to refuse their respawn on me (hotkey etc).
Indeed, needless to say that not all situations where a player is out of combat is a good sitation to respawn on someone. I understand the game can hardly go deeper about that code wise. But then the solution is easy : let the players evaluate the situation themselves.
Another suggestion i would have (even it's minor thing compared to the previous one) would be to give players a little xp points for surviving a long time on the battlefield. Right now players are incetivized to kill, capture etc but not just playing carefully and it ends up sometimes feeling like playing serious sam instead of a wargame. And i think the xp system doesn"t reward players enough for being careful and staying alive. I understand killing stuff should give more points, but a few xp here and there for just playing cleverly and valuing your soldier's life would feel more sane and it would make players play a little more subtly as i think the progress curve for most players goes that way.
