Suggestion: Repairing vehicles from within.

Hi!

Something I noticed in my couple hundred hours of play is that repairing a helicopter or other vehicle from a passenger seat is a little bit finnicky! Almost as if it isn't really supposed to be part of the game?

But it seems like a feature of the game, since it was also present in previous Battlefield games.

The problem is that you cannot visually tell where you have to aim to repair a vehicle from the inside. And if the vehicle in question turns, the spot where you have to aim seems to move around without it being visually apparent where it went.

So, if you want the players to be able to repair a vehicle from the passenger seats, it would be nice if there was a clear or easy way to consistently repair the vehicle. Maybe it's better if it is made unimportant where you aim to repair the vehicle? Or maybe along any edge of your freedom of view should be ok? Right now it feels very inconsistent and even with some practice it appears that the repairs are quite frequently interrupted.

  • @Rakasa_Rohe Same here.

If it is an intended mechanic, make it more reliable (doesn't have to be perfect if it is a 'balancing mechanic).

    If not, remove it completely.
  • @Rakasa_Rohe Good ol' hit reg. The repair tool is pretty much the same as a weapon when it comes to aiming and repairing, they just haven't implemented well enough in BF2042.

@Arfan76 It is fine on all vehicles externally just internally where the 'bit' that needs to be repaired is really small and difficult to hit.

Though I haven't repaired in a vehicle, it sounds a lot like how BFBC2 mechanics worked.  You couldn't just sit in one spot with the repair tool, you had to move it around until you found the spot.  It would repair for a few and then you had to move it around again.  Honestly, if this is how it does work, I love it.  I can tell you I didn't like when you can have a little bird with two repair monkeys just mindlessly running their repair tool without having to "work for it".  At least now one can still blow a vehicle up while people are repairing it, not like the "troll bomber" in BF1.

  • Personally. I wish it was removed but if it is to stay then it needs to be at a dramatically reduced rate than normal (which it may already be - I have in my notes that it is but don't have any details). Transport aircraft already have the best damage profiles in the game for aircraft and Nightbirds have the smallest physical profile. On board repairs dramatically alter the dynamics of play for the worse by allowing aircraft to sponge damage well beyond what they were intended to when crafted and balanced.

And before anyone chimes in - teamwork is not a blank check that can written to excuse bad mechanics.

@VBALL_MVP That might be what the devs intended, but if so that needs to be explained in a tutorial section. That is not something that is going to be intuitive.
