Tactical Conquest: Try it before you buy into the negative narrative.
After several days of reading about how bad the new Tactical Conquest mode was I didn't even bother to login yesterday.
All I've read on reddit and also here put me off even trying it.
Well today, Sunday in Australia I decided I'd jump on to see for myself and what do you know.
It's really good.
Map size is good, not too small, not too big and the delay between each round is significantly shorter than the main Conquest mode in AOW which had been achieved by doing away with the 45 second countdown and end of round top 3 and squad screen.
Each match lasts on average about 10 minutes.
Gameplay is solid. Pure infantry play minus the chaos of breakthrough chokepoints nonsense.
The pace is definitely a lot slower than the regular modes and you really do get a sense you are playing a serious tactical shooter game.
All in all a great change of pace and I'm really looking forward to 16 vs 16 to see how that changes it up.
Hope the player numbers are good to encourage Dice to build on this mode in 2042 or in the next battlefield.
Be tactical and use insertion beacons.
