Cross fingers and hope DICE actually does any thing with all the feedback they receive here.
This game needs more dog fights, that is what it needs, so jets don't need to engage with tanks or helicopters.
The weight of the decision on selecting AGM, dumb fire or AA is inexistent because, 1) the machine guns shreds helicopters and jets, and 2) the dumb fire rockets are a one size fits all and take on jets, helis and tanks, so despite the low damage, eventually they will kill tanks, helis, and jets.
So I have nothing against 2 jets per side.
At least it would keep them busy and happy, and the decision between AGM or dumb fire vs AA would have a lot of weight because they would have two jets on the opposing team, which could be focused on jets vs jets, and finally, infantry could destroy a jet of they flared at the wrong time/location, or help their team's jets. Currently, the FXM-33 doesn't add much value to a load out. With more jets, perhaps it would make sense.
The dumb fire rockets engage too easily. Like Liz. She was doing a much better role as AA than as anti tank, but she was a one size fits all before the nerf.
Then after all that, I would perhaps return the AGM to what or was before, but the focus would be on jets vs jets primarily, and that starts by nerfing jets' machine gun damage and dumb fire. Jets vs tanks would be a second role after air dominance. Then hell yeah, make AGM do 33% damage.

There is a proposal to remove AGM missiles from Nightbird and replace them with wire missiles only. Here it will be more difficult to step on the technique so boldly. To hit with a rocket you will need to hover and aim, which automatically makes you an easy target. It will be very difficult to direct a missile in a direct collision, a high risk of a miss, thereby a chance of survival for equipment.

Guys, you have counter measures, use them properly. Even for boosting, use Irish. Period. You are asking to be untouchable.

@Man_iLoveFishingIf the NightBerd is not driven away with a stinger, then the tank is disassembled in less than a minute, even with a countermeasure from the Irishman. Personally, I probe the brilliant green with a large-caliber machine gun so as not to waste the AGM, 5 seconds the brilliant green is over, then it resets the thermal ones. All this time you have been hitting it with large-caliber ones, by this time the tank loses about 20% of its life, then 2 AGM. The tank does not have time to make it to the countermeasure repeated before the second AGM and, as a result, it takes damage from 2 AGMs about 70%. Then it's up to the small, in the intervals between 2 AGMs, you knock it out with large-caliber ones.
What can I say here, even the thick-skinned MAW is disassembled into molecules within a minute. - Man_iLoveFishing3 years agoSeasoned Ace@AlkaniusRUS Like I said, you give away ability to fight other aircrafts with 20mm. Your choice.

Thanks for the feedback, all.
Passing it on to the teams. - 3 years ago@AlkaniusRUS Well written.
I feel like I'm getting gaslit by Nightbird pros.
"All those times you were nailed by a Nightbird with AGMs were all your own fault because you failed to use your tank properly". - 3 years ago
@Tank2042ManHere, whatever one may say, ground equipment is now a tasty morsel for Nightbird with AGM. The only thing that can save equipment from a raid and inevitable death is a fierce anti-aircraft gun or several infantrymen with stingers. This is not your fault, this is the inevitability of dying because the team did not protect you.

Like I said, I've fought long fights against one tank, one player and yes I killed him, in minutes. Most of tankers don't even shoot back with machine guns, tow, you name it.
Skill issue now.
More likely problem is that me joining in busy fight against tank that has been damaged gets killed within seconds. But oh well, let it get nerfed, basically you are channeling bird mains all attention on infantry, since vehicles will get declined, which means pods and mg.
Next step: Nerf hokum/apache.
- 3 years ago@Man_iLoveFishing well they can currently win in a head on 1 vs 1 against a Wildcat equipped with 30mm, the vehicle that is supposed to be their hard counter.
But I bet you will argue that's just a skill issue too. - 3 years ago@AlkaniusRUS Rubbish. There is no "high risk" of miss. Wire guided is still guided and as long as the pilot is competent there no "high risk" of missing. With lock on missiles you also have to hold to get the lock so your point about the hover is a wash as both missiles require users to hover.
The wire guided missiles would instead provide the nightbird with MORE lethality especially given the nightbirds agility since these missiles can't be warded off by IR Smoke.
It's a trojan horse proposal and it's DOA. - 3 years ago
So air vehicles can shoot AGM down to all vehicle targets on the ground. Some ground vehicles besides the AA have weak anti air guns.
What we had on Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 was the best balance between all vehicles. Tanks could laser desigate and were also armed with a guided shell that would hit target locked vehicles just like a Javelin "Top Down" shell. That would be a good option for tanks on the commander seat to add a SOFLAM since that fourth seat its basically useless
The driver can just shoot its guided shell.

@rop81 Arguably Battlefield 4 had even worse air vehicle balance.
A good pilot, gunner combo would just time the respawn of the enemy Heli and TV missile it every, single, time.
Furthermore, Battlefield 4 suffered from useless Stingers. The Maps were far more balanced however, for both vehicles and infantry, so aircraft would just use ECM and casually enjoy their advantage whilst the only surefire way to take them down was dumbfire rockets, an absolute headache compared to the ease of which attack helis fought. I still have PTSD from Siege of Shanghai, brilliant map but not when the Chopper Duo was online...But 2042 has something BF4 didn't, Rao. Sadly however Rao is pretty bad without a missile launcher and needs to be majorly buffed.
I understand talking about the past, but lets not derail this post. It is about the Nightbird and how broken and bugged it is. - 3 years ago@S3SSioN_SoL Sure the topic name is also "The Nightbird's AGM should be Nerfed"
and we are also not talking about Rao.
So the point is that some vehicles have issues by constantly being hit by air to ground missiles and hard to defend themselves. So I said why not add a SOFLAM to the fourth seat of a tank or other vehicles and add the guided shell to the tank as previous games. - S3SSioN_SoL3 years agoSeasoned Ace
But 2042 has something BF4 didn't, Rao. Sadly however Rao is pretty bad without a missile launcher and needs to be majorly buffed.@rop81 Could you hack vehicles in Battlefield 4 and 3? Imagine if you could.
Rao is literally the answer to vehicle balance but he can only be that balance if he himself is balanced. Rao is so far off the scale, that he is literally a walking TUGS. lmao.
There can only be so many vehicles on the map at a time, infantry should be able to rely on themselves to deal with vehicles, and vehicles already do a good enough job as it is but some vehicles... are too strong (Nightbird and Railgun Tank). And some specialists are really bad, Crawford, Boris and Rao for instance. If they were far better at their jobs, they could deal with vehicles better and feel more useful.

@rop81 And by the way, I already agreed with you as reflected here:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/SOFLAM-For-Tanks-and-Other-vehicles/m-p/12436415/highlight/true#M165974I am merely making the point that if 2042 were a table, it's legs are all uneven lengths.

@S3SSioN_SoLI get your frustration because I also hate being on the ground and being obliterated by a little bird.

@AlkaniusRUSRubbish.Perhaps there is some truth in your words in skillful hands, she is the same imba, but it will definitely be much more difficult to use her than AGM. I use TOW on attack helicopters and don't take AGMs on purpose as I am a BF4 fan and have always flown strikers with TOWs. With TOW you will definitely be an easy target for TOR or Foxes for a few seconds. Not only that, you will not have such an opportunity to send a missile from behind cover like an AGM, you will now have to lead the TOW to the target. This is now not the same principle, shot and forgot. And the further the target, the greater the chance of a miss, respectively, the chances for the survival of equipment.

@rainkloud wrote:And I forgot to add a clarification to my comment. TOW has a much longer reload time compared to AGM, this will definitely increase the survivability of the vehicle.
