They're all the same!!!
Flashpoint is just more of the same. It's 99% all the same assets we have already seen just slapped together. It's the same terrain, same buildings, same damn everything! All the maps play the same.
Where are the urban / naval / CQC maps? Where is the VARIETY?
I'm happy for it. I don't really care as long as the flow is good and I can have fun on it.
I think it's down to development resources & specialists.
They've spent over a year getting the game into a playable state and reworking maps that launched with the game, with most of the resources now working on the next BF game. I think that's why we're seeing recycled assets throughout the live service, barring Exposure. The one map that actually looks different.
I also believe that sticking with the specialists means we can't have any CQC maps because the game will play like Quake champions instead of an arcade military shooter. I mean can you imagine playing Metro with grappling hooks, turrets, airbursts, scatter nades, wallhacks etc. It would just be an absolute disaster IMO.
@Tank2042Man This has been the trend since BF1. They did a little bit better in BFV. But its the worst it has ever been in BF2042. I believe it all comes down to corporate greed.
I remember a DICE dev talk with David Sirland 4 or 5 years ago, where he commented on this. It was in response to the BF1 maps being so open and rural and how they were going to have more Urban/City maps in BFV. He seemed slightly annoyed by the players desire for urban maps. He almost groaned when he commented about how they were so expensive to make. And he was talking about financial cost not compute resources.
If you go back and look at the maps in BF4, there is a lot more uniqueness and detail in the design and artwork. And the variety of the aesthetic and atmosphere between maps was signficant. It really felt like different parts of the world and was much more immersive. Too often people confuse fidelity of a shiny new engine for detail and art.
Kind of embarrassing how JackFrags praises "scripted destruction" of some really uninteresting walls in the first 60 seconds. Seems like some paid advertising...
The new map basically looks like the small mountain section on renewal and that is one of the worst maps ingame.
Commented the same on the reveal trailer. It is very uninteresting and boring. There is no variety. The only thing interesting to me in this upcoming season is the new specialist. That's it! Everything else is just old school..
