Thoughts from 'the dark side' as an aircraft pilot
Those of you following along may recall that I absolutely despise aircraft especially post the recent DICE changes which nerfed the Wildcat and improved the lethality of aircraft. After all of the aircraft apologists on this forum started victim blaming people who actually play this FPS as just that, I got into the aircraft.
So sure, went around the Huron absolutely destroying people and it was...actually quite fun. 1 shotting tanks and Wildcats was also incredibly amusing. (for all intents and purposes, sometimes it takes two bombing runs).
But it got me thinking. What sort of person jumps into BF2042 to do this? I certainly have my strong opinions here and will reserve them so they remain in my brain (e.g. not good things to say).
In any event, the argument made by aircraft apologists is that "teamwork is your way of destroying us", but that's a lot of BS. No real military strategy has one or two aircraft going in and just bombing a battlefield while a random group of strangers with no military training, no teamwork, and no real comms to communicate effectively run in and randomly kill people (this is how BF2042 works). Not only is there 1) no teamwork due to poor game design but 2) no comms to actually be able to shoot and coordinate actions at the same time. This is, after all, not mil-sim but just fun-sim.
In any event, while aircraft continue dominating, player counts will continue plummeting (and rightfully so). But yes, I quite enjoyed pooping on helpless players but I hold steadfast my original opinion which is that it's incredibly unbalanced and is what is causing the demise of a game that already was on its last legs.
Cheerio.
