Thoughts on EMP Nade and Casper Drone change?

The change to Rao feels Interesting compared to how it used to work, but the EMP changes felt too shoehorned in. EMP nades had a niche use in disrupting vehicles while being fair in that drivers can maneuver away despite not able to use countermeasures or guns. But now EMPs feel useless in that even if disabling vehicles is very valuable, it feels not worth running if Vehicle can just shoot you. Even if in Theory it would be OP to land Vehicles, in practice I rarely see them used even in Redacted to disable Sentinels or on vehicles anymore.

For the casper drone the change seems negligible due to how you can EMP vehicles from a distance where it feels better but Probably is what caused DICE to want to change EMP nades in the first place, dragging them to out of relevancy this season. Could also be a claim that it was for Air Appeasement since Helis can now attack even while hacked, which EMPs and Rao pre S6 were able to at least force a heli to leave as they were not able to shoot back.

Overall not a fan of the changes to EMPs as it becomes problematic for ground vehicles while a niche throwable becomes almost useless due to better methods and gadgets, while arguably aircraft feel the least impacted, unless hacks disabling mobility is very strong for counterplay against pilots.

  • I agree.  Not sure what DICE were trying to achieve with these changes, as I didn't see any massive complaints from the playerbase asking for any of this.

EMP nade used to be one of the only ways to get close to ground armour to be able to mine/c5 it.  Now, it's pretty much suicide.  Using smoke is probably the only way now other than Mackay's grapple (which also got nerfed).

Rao's hack was also the only effective way to prevent an air vehicle from using flares, to give team mates a short window to take it out with Stinger.  Again, that's now gone.

I really don't understand why DICE implements these changes to make it increasingly harder for infrantry to destroy vehicles.  Every change at the moment seems to favour vehicles over infantry.  The "extensive engineer rework", was a complete joke.

The fact that Redacted (the only Infantry only AOW map) is now so popular, should hopefully make DICE realise that infantry players need to be heard, and that vehicle drivers & pilots shouldn't have it all their own way.  I doubt it tho.  DICE seem to hate infantry.

@MADMAC50K I have to disagree. Dice has made numerous changes to the game to cater to infantry players from revamping maps to allow more coverage for infantry to changing the aim reticle on ground vehicles to make aiming more difficult. That's in combination with EVERYONE having access to anti vehicle weapons from AT mines, rockets, c5, Lis rockets, grenades. Now the new map is completely designed for infantry. If anything they have catered to the infantry player while making changes to make it more difficult for those who like vehicles

Changing the reticle to make aiming harder?  What about them adding thermal scopes to pretty much every vehicle?  They also countered the increased cover, by increasing the number of attack vehicles (ground and air) without increasing anti-vehicle ammo (Crawford 1 extra rocket is laughable).  Now they've nerfed gadget ammo by introducing unnecessary pouches (which don't supply gadget ammo), and made ammo crates destroyable.  Also not everyone has access to anti vehicle weapons - only engineers get rocket weapons and mines, but most of them are pretty much useless.  Only really the M5 and RPG are any good, the rest are either easily dodged, or have broken lock on mechanics.  So that all sounds pretty ant-infantry and pro-vehicle to me.....
