Time for battlefield 2030 - A redone UI and Gameplay

This is for those who love BC2, BF3 ..... but hate BF 2042. 

I know its not easy to fix this game, but I love the graphics and I see potential. If we go and use the same game with simple changes and relaunch, people would love that. It does not have to be rebuild. 

If I was an exec at EA and really wanted to do something in short term, then I would think of battlefield 2030. 

  1. Bring back uniforms. - Its a military game, I should not look like the enemy.  
  2. Simple classes - There should be 4/5 classes you want and that is it. Don't force player to choose a character just because of skill and don't let enemy plan based on how you look. 
    1. Let player choose the class
    2. Let player choose the gender
    3. Let player choose the camouflage
    4. Let player choose the skills. 
  3. Jets should have classes
    1. F-35 and F22 (or any futuristic)
    2. Su 57 and Su 75
    3. Chinese J-20, J31
  4. Fix the tanks:
    1. The tank first person view needs a simpler UI. 
    2. Zoom, thermal etc should be simpler to control. 
    3. Allow user to switch from normal to night vision to thermal. 
    4. Tank shell should not drop as if I am firing from a 1930 tank. It should not drop too fast. 
  5. Limit rifle modification during the game. 
  6. Bring back the score board. 
  7. Let me switch teams. 
  8. I should be able to map my controls easily on console. 
  9. Why this game only let user modify soldier from game menu but not vehicles. 

Does anyone have better ideas? 

Please share what would you add or remove, from this game and create battlefield 2030 with least possible changes.

  • Tank Maps:

    I feel the battlefield 2042 maps are not tank friendly. Here is what could be done. 

    1. Make the terrain tank friendly.. Don't have too many obstacles. 
    2. Fix the turret angle, I should be able to hit low flying helis. Or troops at a height. 
    3. Let opposite team build any tank structures to safe guard the post. At the same time, let friendly infantry broke those to allow friendly tank to move. 

    Max Limit Ammo for Vehicles vs overheat or slow reload

    When infantry has a limit of ammo, so should vehicles. Once a vehicle spends all its ammo, it needs to rearm itself. 

    How can vehicles re-arm. 

    1. Go to home base and sit their for x minutes. 
    2. Call for supply drop.
      1.  These supply drops have to be limited. And can't be stolen, but can be destroyed. 
      2. A heli has to set down to rearm, which on a battlefield is not easy, but player can decide. 
    3. Supply drop needs a cargo plane like C17, C130, to drop. 
    4. Cargo plane flying high can be shot down by fighter aircraft or AAA, but it should not be easy. 

    Fighter rearming: 


    For fighters, let them know the cargo drop is coming, they have to fly with the cargo aircraft at least half length of the map to rearm. 

    This would be tricky, especially if you have enemy aircraft which can hit you and cargo both. 

    How the cargo aircrafts work

    1. Each cargo drop will be announced ahead of time. This is to let friendlys be ready. 
    2. Cargo aircraft will have chaff and flare to defend, making it difficult too shot down. 
    3. Cargo aircraft can defend against 2 or max 3 missiles only. 
    4. Cargo drop can be at multiple locations. 


    The bombers:

    Team capturing a special point or able to put a special beacon, should win a chance to bring in a stealth bomber.  The bomber will allow infantry to drop heavy JDAMs which can do lot of damage. 

  • Whatever it is, I just don't want to wait 7 years for the next title.

    OP,

    I will try to answer based on your numbers.

    but first, a few contradictory statements:

    You state " don't let enemy plan based on how you look. " - yet that is exactly what the class system did before. You even knew what type of weapon they had before. Now all you know is what gadget they may have. Visual recognition was much more prevalent in previous titles. 

    Then you say " Its a military game" but then say "Let player choose the gender" - does choosing skins and your face in a 1st person shooter really matter when you can't see it during the game? I always found skins and stuff very odd (especially for purchase) when you can't even enjoy them. So would gender even matter? Do we want a dev wasting time on different models, GUI selections just for this? Just put a helmet and mask on every player so you don't need to determine gender, we are all Pats. 

    1. Agree on uniforms
    2. I agree on classes, but limit it to class and camo, weapons and gadgets restricted again

    3. Yes, all vehicles and aircraft should have subclasses
    4. They also need to phyx physics, they are broken, we are not fighting on Mars

    5. The T-system was actually one of the best additions to the game. Do you think this makes the game worse? Players die so often that I don't even know how many use it.

    6. We have one, yet it is fake, but you make it seem like we don't have anything.

    7. This has always been exploited, especially players from the losing team jumping to the winning team when a spot opens up. I wouldn't mind it, but it should only be available when one team has significantly less players than the other.

    9. Probably to be semi realistic as a vehicle would need major work to change out a turret, doing it on the fly would be crazy.

    Everything seems fair, but no more indirect fire please. Infantry is at such a disadvantage already, the last thing we need is another bomb from above. 

    I always thought Angel's supply crate was a cargo drop. They just need to make it a resupply point/refuel point for vehicles.

    I agree on a lot of the points.

    But please no thermals for vehicles, that was pretty bad in BF4.

    For me infantry and vehicle-gameplay should be "separated" more if possible. One problem in 2042 is that infantry has to deal too much with vehicles. which has made the infantry gameplay perhaps the worst ever in a BF-game. Vehicles in BF4 were pretty OP, but the maps were much better designed (more height variations on the ground, more cover etc) and you could fight other infantry without getting bombed by a heli/plane or "sniped" by a tank, all the time. I think this is mostly a matter of less explosives from air-units and then maps where infantry can fight in areas where the vehicles cannot enter (like buildings, underground tunnels etc).

  • I like the vehicle balance in BF4, its what makes battlefield -  battlefield. Else you have other games. 

    I really enjoy the fact that a good tank, heli and troop can make for a very interesting game play. 

    But why no thermals?
