I may dip a toe into a Star Wars game (not trying the new one on PC anytime soon that’s for sure) but for good multiplayer action you just can’t do better than a BF series game for fun. Maybe 2042 will finally make it on the list if they help at it, but I’m not sure if they’re even still working on PC optimizations anymore. Even if vehicle warfare isn’t your thing, the goal was to try the game with Crossplay Off and see how it feels for you. I’m curious how impactful it is on consoles? 2042 was designed for consoles and ported to PC as are all AAA games now, if you folks get any more love over PC they’ll just be ghosting us in our texts 😉
IMO, it's not the clients that need fixing any longer; it's the servers - my boy used to get less than 60fps at 1080p with a 3060. He now gets ~120. CQ128 is just awful, in terms of performance at busy times like the weekends. Double XP events don't help either.
Turning off crossplay helps it, but we still have the issue of lower rank players getting a rather obvious boost, which often feels like playing against console players. The lock shots, the instant death, the bullet sponge players. Always low rank. They have zero recoil and rapid fire on some of the worst weapon setups for close range, most often the SVK with stock 4 power scope and high power rounds, which are atrocious for accuracy and speed at close range against a moving target. Yet they always miraculously manage it.
