TTK (Time To Kill)

Hello,

I like the new changes coming to map design, I think that’s a good starting point to make the game more enjoyable. I would keep breakthrough to 128 players, I don’t think it’s player count. It has to do more with lack of cover, vehicles, and objectives being too far on some conquest and breakthrough maps. Map design is really not the issue for me though it’s more about the ttk and always has been. I think u die really fast in this game there’s no weapon balance or vehicle balance. I thought what you guys did with BFV’s ttk was amazing. If I got shot at I had an opportunity to turn around and kill that player. If you did this in 2042 I’m telling you it will change everything. Sure maps lack cover but if the ttk was higher I think it would create a better balance of gameplay and strategy play as well. The map flow game flow will feel a lot different and I can finally have a chance to blow up a BOLT! 😁

I feel like TTK has allways been one of those ( everybody has their own opinion on how it should be ) type things and you cant please everybody.

for myself i like that middle ground of TTK, i dont like super low where im dying to a shot to the big toe by a guy spraying from the hip with his eyes closed. I like to have at least some kind of chance to respond to the guy shooting at me.

but at the same time i dont want to have to unload a entire clip into somebodys chest to kill them. I feel like you should have to at least aim a few shots to get the kill. so if you start shooting at somebody and their reaction is to move quickly you still have to aim a few shots to secure that kill, and if you cant then there is a chance they can get you, or take cover.

but like i said, not everybody will ever be happy with it, and lets not forget hit registry and how completely bad it can be at times. when i tried this game in the beta i cant even count how many times i died before i would even get any kind of bullet hit registry on my side, it was just so bad.

  • @DETROiiTTRiiCK Completely disagree on TTK. I can't stand to play games where I get the drop on someone, start unloading (getting hit markers), and they turn around and kill me. It makes my head want to explode!

High TTK (and lag death) is one of the things that will cause me to drop a game like a hot potato.

  • I quite like the TTK in 2042 but get a bit exasperated at the TTD sometimes. Then again I suspect that's more lag, like with the 'super bullets' in BFV early on, rather than the TTD itself.

     Couldn't agree more.

I feel just the opposite of the OP to be honest. The way I figure it, if someone gets the drop on me, I deserve to be killed. I hate games where all it takes is someone doing a few jumps or side dances, etc. to turn the tables and kill you.

For me it's all about games that reward small unit tactics and the ability to outmaneuver your opponent, etc. I like more realistic damage mechanics in my shooters which is probably why I choose Hardcore modes in games like these but BF2042 doesn't have that.  ....aside from Portal which has its own problems with player engagement.

  • It’s the usual netcode issues that’s the problem.
Even in battlefield v TTK was never the issue it was the poor netcode!

The ttk compared to the ttd is so off it’s ridiculous, it takes you hit marker after hit marker to kill yet your dead in the usual one bullet super death.

Am pretty sure it’s an inherent frostbite issue they will never fix

TTK doesn't fit the TTD AT ALL! There is a large gap for improvements with TTD. I die in 1 frame 90% of the time while I have to put Magazines into the enemy. Enemies just walk through my bullets and it feels like they have some kinda magnetic bullets hitting me, not missing any bullets (maybe aimassist is real in the game due to crossplay) an then It feels like something is really off with the mouse input like the crosshair actively being pushed around. There are matches where all this doesn't appear that obviously but over all there are some major issues as with input and netcode - still in 2023.

  • Please.  For the love of all that is good and holy.  Do. Not. Change.  The.  TTK.  At.  This. Stage. In. The. Game's. Life!!!!!!!

This is exactly what killed BFV once and for all.

I agree with you, when the servers are running well (which is maybe 50% of the time?) the TTK/TTD are ok. You get a little bit of a chance to duck dodge and dive. But when it’s bad, and you get hit instantaneously by a package of bullets slamming into ya… then it bites. That’s something they’ve needed to fix since day one.
