I usually only use the first person view myself (personal preference is all) but I do occasionally pop into 3rd person to see if a Sundance is about to fly in on me or something else is creeping around so I do understand why others would like it.
Armor in this title have arguably more threats than any other time in Battlefield's history, they're paper tigers really. Trying to push a point opens you up to all manner of rockets, C5, grenades (which weirdly do 20 damage just like a rocket)
You're better off (if you want your tank to last more than a few minutes) staying on the peripheral of the points or as a lot of tankers seem to be doing lately "camping" with it and basically using it like artillery.
EA/Dice have inadvertently placed armor in the position that these are the most viable ways to score kills and survive, it's not my particular play style but I understand why it has evolved this way.

@HJ_SpacewarMaybe that could happen the day where even a slight injury will render infantry unable to perform at their fullest and a single bullet wound would need immediate extraction from the warzone.
These requests for realistic vehicles while keeping the infantry arcade as heck keep baffling me

@HJ_Spacewar wrote:Maybe a hot take but if soldiers can't have it then vehicles shouldn't either. It would raise the skill ceiling on all vehicles and bring more immersion. Tanks, helicopters, etc shouldn't be able to have a 360 view at all times.
I agree 100%
first person shooter should be first person for everyone

Vehicles cannot be revived when they are killed like infantry and have a much higher cooldown time. Vehicles are harder the handle than playing as infantry. Vehicles are meant to be strong. Quit your whining.

Wouldn't care all that much about losing it for ground vehicles or helis, I'm mostly in 1P anyway with them, but weirdly I wouldn't want to lose it for the jets. I just find them easier to handle in 3P.
- RaginSam3 years agoSeasoned Ace@HJ_Spacewar There’s at least one other thread about the same thing.
It wouldn’t work. You have to build the game from the ground up to be played a certain way. Sundance mains would absolutely love 1st person only for tanks. You would never last more than a minute in armor.
Mackay’s grapple and Sundance’s wing suit would definitely need to go. Maps would need to be better designed for tanks. There’s way too much clutter and odd geometry to get stuck on. It’s a headache just thinking about how much work would be needed to make this idea viable.
There’s some milsim type games like Arma, Squad, PS, and HLL off the top of my head. - @HJ_Spacewar Do real life soldiers have 360 degrees vision that modern tanks do?
Situational awareness
Circular review system of the company LimpidArmor
Performing situational awareness and communicating is one of four primary MBT functions.[45] For situational awareness, the crew can use a circular review system combining augmented reality and artificial Intelligence technologies.[46] These systems use several externally mounted video sensors to transfer a 360º view of the tank's surroundings onto crew helmet-mounted displays or other display systems.
