I do not care about apologies, they only count when sincere, insincere one is an insult. Yes it would be nice.
But them apologizing does not mean that they do not plan on repeating the same deeds again. There is no guarantee and their promises are not worth more than hot air in search for easy money.
Video makers with close ties to the corporation carefully waited until the misled customers relying on (non)trustworthiness to buy, suddenly starting to acknowledge that there are some problems. Dishonesty. They did not mention those before release..
This means that their behavior was a sort of conspiracy against the customer. Like advertising what might not ever come. (bf 5 expansions) Are they going to be accountable ? They should be.
Orchestrating media narrative to fit maximum profit agenda. Including so-called major voices of the community etc.
To me this is not only immoral, I would bet that this misleading is an outright crime for which they should be investigated. They also most likely misled their shareholders as well. If I were a shareholder and heard the first great promises, the failure to deliver dividends is not as great as is the audacity of whoever was doing the insulting lying.
They will tell that you should be expecting to be lied to, as if deceiving was acceptable. It can only be acceptable if you are a liar, deceiver yourself. Do not expect everybody to have to suffer what you allow yourself on yourself.
Apology is not enough
Promises that they will do better next time is also, not enough.
They want your money for which they are obliged to give you the goods. They are not entitled to decide whether they feel like you own anything. If you do not own anything, you do not pay anything either. If you pay, you own, not something up for debate.
I saw some folks were paying 120 bugs and received in dividends more bugs than that, such an amount is about 2 normal full games price. If they had any shame, they would not pull a bf 5, cutting out support, while still promising to fix it all. If they are not ashamed of their evil behavior, then I think it is reasonable to think about, whether people who let this happen in bf 5, let themselves be deceived in bf 042 again - do you not feel your dignity violated to be taken advantage of twice in a row ?
things like they first give coop with bots and then take away exp from it ? Why did they not have the audacity to come up with another theory as to why they did not give Create local without internet a thing again ? Human right to privacy trampled by a corporate marketing lie and shaming ? They apparently seem to possess no shame for their behavior, because normal valuable people would never do that.
The only worthy apology is to finish the game and give what they promised. (+ LAN offline for me to consider a buy)
Apology of words without actions is all cheap. It is like someone punching you and telling you sorry, only to punch you again to say sorry again.
EA has the resources to finish the game properly, time to pay up. I would actually wish for 2042 to succeed as a project, not as a money chasing operation. Portal thing needs much more even if base game seems of inferior standard. How much development does it actually need to be like say bf 2 on release ? 6-9 months ? I wonder.
Id like a shooter game, customizable like that portal thing, for online and offline, whether I feel like going online is on me, my privacy is above their wishful thinking.
If they dont want to provide any concessions, I wont concede any money.
