This is just another thing to make it easier for new players. Since the spread is random, it is not like a better player will be more accurate at long range anymore. So it really evens the playing field. It is now to pray and spray, which new players are good at.
This is another change that no one asked for. The Devs are not BF Veterans, always remember that.

My theory is that making gun-play more skill-based with higher recoil are not possible to implement on controllers and will end up making crossplay a mess for Dice (with endless discussions about aim-assist etc etc), this is just me guessing though.
But if they increase spread, they need to make tap-fire work and that should be possible for all platforms. BF4 has some weird feeling gunplay, but it is probably the best balanced, we have had yet.
Getting rid of the 'just point and click-shooting' (with automatics at medium-range) would benefit the game.
- X-Sunslayer-X3 years agoSeasoned Ace@cso7777 but it doesn't really matter for consoles as they get a flat 25% reduction to any recoil increase DICE may or may not implement....
in theory the change wouldn't be as bad but DICE in their unrivaled ability to screw up implemented these changes without ever actually testing them whatsoever... so now they are broken and cause unneeded frustration... leave it to DICE to ruin their communities good will
- UP_LordPlumber3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Adamonic Its not going to help new players, quite the opposite.
People who know the tap firing mechanic from BF3/BF4 will instantly have an advantage over everyone else.
New players will be helplessly spraying and praying and wondering why they don't hit any shots, while experienced players will be able to tap fire and beam them at long range.
