Why do we have to unlock guns and attachments?

This whole bot farming only came about because we have to unlock guns, attachments, and specialists. If we didn't have to unlock everything we paid for. EA wouldn't have had to kill portal. How am I supposed to try out different gun styles and builds if I have to stay with the same gun, level it up to see if I even like it or not?

I understand that there need to be rewards and incentives to play but it shouldn't be guns. If I don't have the time to sweat out this game. I am stuck with the base 4 guns akin to someone else who may have more free time on their hands. We all (for the most part) paid the same price for this game so why are we all being treated differently depending upon the amount of time we have to devote to this game?

I like BF2042, it brought me back to the series. I am not sure what BF1/5 did but playing BF3/4, BC1/2 you didn't have to play just to try out a new gun this is unfair.

  • You are wrong.

I don't exactly remember how BC2 was but in BF 3+ you always had to unlock the guns and the attachements through kills with said guns.

In BF4 it bacame even worse with the Battlepack crap.

So in this part 2042 is the same as before...

  • You've always had to unlock attachments except this time, the guns are so bad in base form (except smgs) that it's a real pain in the * to actually level anything up.  My first few games I could barely get 3-5 kills with any AR weapon because I was getting melted by Level 60 no-lifer, basement dwelling, streamer sweattard playing 18 hours+ per day.  I don't remember them sucking so badly in BF4, BF3, BC2. (I didn't like BF1 or BFV because I don't like WWI/WWII games but those sucked hard also until you levelled them up)

  • @yungblockburna Yes you did!

Every Battlefield since Bad Company has had either a grind or assignment to unlock weapons and attachments.
  • Unlocking weapons by progressing in your level/class has been part of Battlefield games at least since BC2...

And I don't see any problem here.

BF3 did it best, always something to chase, weather it was a new tag for loads of kills, new weapon, new attachment, that game always had something to work for, and none of it behind annoying assignments (well apart from some dlc stuff)

@NiCeDiCe90the attachments but not the actual GUNS

You had to unlock the weapons by level up or by score for the specific class.

The DLC weapons were unlocked by assignments.
