Why is K/D so highly reagrded in BF? It's NOT the ONLY Team STAT...

K/D is not ALWAYS PTO

What about Revive/D, Assist/D, Spot/D, Healing/D, Resupplying/D, Repairs/D AND PTFO/D?

I was nearly MVP with K/D of 0.1🤭

Chasers of K/Ds in BF generally let the TEAM down, and now there will be 63 with you

How about, the rest also starts getiing a _/D tally? No one can, in ANYWAY, get a high K/D without help from the TEAM, or totally NEGLECTING the team...

To add, in this video by LevelCapGaming on YouTube, from 5:35, https://youtu.be/s6MGrigjnCw?t=335 , he states something interesting about the SCOREBOARD from BF1942... And a wish to return to something similar. My original wish was for something more or less like this, and it's clear from the response, LCG and myself aren't the only ones 🙂

I truly don't care if someone is chasing a high K/D, it's what they wan't to do. I was simply stating that there are more stats and that K/D has become a bragging-right somehow. Yet it takes the whole team's effort for one guy to achieve that high K/D, wether they know or believe it, or not. One guy can't go up against 32 on his own, he needs assistance from the whole team, supporting one another, taking and defending points, reviving, ammo crates, taking out vehicles, ETC.

That's really all I ever wanted 😃

But that is absolutely not true!
I have run many 3200 ticket servers for years and still have a few these days. And very often we observe how the best collaborating team players are winning the round. Again and again! While all the k/d stat packing egos are loosing as a team if too many of them. And offering the defib revive to your mates and taking that revive is very often the very thing making the whole difference!
(everybody who plays hxrdcore mode knows especially how true that is!)
So just to prove the case of how kills are meaning less versus PTFO and helping your mates is, I just opened the log on one of my high ticket servers here from yesterday:
Battle Report - Battlelog / Battlefield 4
3200 tickets infantry server, normal mode:
The US team winning big on tickets!
Despite they also got hammered in being killed by the RU side. You can see the RU team registered 2153 kills!
But the US team were very active and helping each other to revive, so they only recorded actually 1447 deaths on their side!
While US team only registered 1879 kills, so much less killing of RU enemies. But the RU team ignored more their mates to let them remain dead, so 1524 of them were recorded dead for good.
You see how many on the RU team are aggressive high k/d players on the top. While you hardly have any heavy k/d hitters on the US team. But you see in the XP scores how much more they focus on PTFO and helping their mates, in the higher XP they score still. US defib, and they take the friendly revives. US drop ammo to their friends. US play together to take the flags, so US win the game! Big time even!
Despite 300 fewer kills! And despite a much lower accuracy.
It's all about playing together as a team to win it!

I prefer a win. I can get negative k/d and still score MVP. There's hundreds of ways to score points.

@ZombieP1ow I'm just kidding here, obviously, but the ONLY way. you can get a negative K/D, is by reviving an ENEMY :D

I hate campers the best way is pto and have fun doing it. So many campers these days worrying about there stats which means nothing.. they have great stats but cannot play the actual game.
If it makes them happy leave them to it. 😉

@psylentrage76I think @ZombieP1ow means he dies more than he kills…
However, a high K/D is GENERALLY reflective of a highly skilled player… of course it’s not everything and stat padding is a real thing as well… so my advice would be to just enjoy the game as you choose.

@psylentrage76Only tryhards care about K/D and 90% of the time they have a dog win/loss....
I for one would rather have a higher Win/loss than a K/D

@psylentrage76 It's true, K/D is so overrated in BF. I think Bad Company is the only game I have a positive K/D in. It typically hovers around .8 or so. Capping flags is arguably the most important thing, and you get more points doing it. I get MVP a lot mostly because I'm always aggressive about capping flags.

Other roles are important, but I do think DICE has watered that part down over the years. In their chase of COD, things did get more run n gun focused. The PC only titles like BF2 and BF2142 were better at emphasizing support roles.

K/D is a fairly useless general measuring device in a game with vehicles and artillery call-ins (and revives).
Still, K/D is a good tool for self-evaluation of how you are evolving as a player in general. Other stats are also important and usefull, but those also depend on the game modes one plays - as does the K/D.
You can get an MVP as a support on conquest pretty much by just going around the map building up every single entrenchment you can find. Is that really being the MVP though if you are not actually helping the team capture flags and you are even making it more difficult to recapture flags because they are fully fortified?!
So, it's in the eye of the beholder how much value you place on your K/D, but it still remains the quickest way to evaluate the perceived skill of a player in a FPS.

Because it is featured prominently in the scoreboards and the stat sites as either a ratio or with the kills and deaths directly displayed.
Also in BFV at least, they indirectly made K/D more prestigious by having all those ridiculous assignments with kills in a round or in a life

Ideally you want a high k/d and a high score. If you're at the top of the score board with an awful k/d then there's a good chance you just threw your self at objectives and only got the points because your team was there to help. You might have played a supporting role but you didn't really clear the objectives of enemies. On the flip side if your k/d is high and you're not near the top or at the top of the scoreboard then you're just kill whoring with minimal benefit to the team winning. In short you need a balance of both to be a real MVP.
