Why is the anti-air in 2042 NOT useful as anti-air?

The "ANTI" aircraft tank in this game is a joke! Its guns barely do damage, missiles have NO  range, overheat is ridiculously high for the damage, you can't aim above you and the best part... the lingering counter measures and glitchy lock make this asset essentially usefulness! When my team is getting wrecked because of air, I just shake my head. Why is the AA so weak devs? Not only are lingering IR counter measures NOT a thing, you make it so impractical to use AA I am honestly sickened. It's no wonder you have player retention issues.... fix the AA and you might be able to save the franchise--not an exaggeration either.

  • Game needs a dedicated anti air vehicle. Wildcat is more of an armoured car with AA capabilities.

  • it's a team game.  at the end of the day, if your team doesn't want to counter air then you and your team will be at the mercy of enemy air.

  • @dethbytikiIt’s not just the weapons, it’s the speed. The traversing speed of the turret is too slow to bring effective fire on a fast mover. The range of the missiles is way, way too low as well. The rate of fire for the main guns is also too low. Back in 89 (get your helmets) I was on a 35mm Oerlikon GDF-005 AA gun crew and the twin barreled, towed AA was 1100 rounds a minute. That’s a lot of shells on the air. Range was 4K. Realistically it’s main purpose was helos, as a jet IS too fast to track and with stand off ability you’d almost never see them. Video games can’t be reality though, as you need balance. As it is, the game is unbalanced in many ways. AA can’t be dominant, so we get the Wildcat, which is more of an anti-personnel weapon.

If you are suggesting that teamwork is required for success then how should that principle be applied to pilots who typically fly and dominate solo?

The turret speed is terrible on the Wildcat, most AA turrets move faster and have a better range of motion vertically as that's where they were intended to shoot.

It is silly that the Wildcat doesn't have superior range than a manpads AA.

Also, where are the optics? It is 2042 and we have a short zoom lens, that's it. No FLIR? Thermal? Night Vision?

It is borderline criminal what paying customers got for what they paid for. Everyone that was involved in this game that reviewed and approved all the way up the chain should be fired and banned from game development for life. I can't imagine being that bad at your job or skill and still being employed.

The ability to call in airstrikes and rewards for pilots who hit designated targets - now that would be a thing!

  • All anti aircraft weapons are garbage.

It goes like this…..get a lock and proceed to wait for flares then acquire another lock after and watch your rocket fly anywhere it wants!

  • @ATFGunr I think the wildcat is good enough imho.

An wildcat who have the dual guns + the 60mm flak unlocked for the third seat wrecks air completely.

But sadly almost no wildcat I drive with has the 60mm flak unlocked.

I think the wildcat greatest problem currently is its slow turnspeed to track near or very fast targets.

And C5 drones which are instant deaths with no counter to it
