Am I the only one who finds it tone deaf to promote a new community portal mode on Fridays? I mean you can't even progress anything and there's still an xp cap on portal mode at this point. Don't blame DICE on the xp cap, blame all the people who decided on taking cheap shortcuts to boost their status instead of grinding like everyone else.

@VBALL_MVP So odd to me that you would blame the users when they were using it as intended. Ripple Effect claimed they had measures in place to prevent XP farms, but clearly that wasn't the case. Now people have to deal with the consequences of that, not that people used the system.

@DominickB3 If I'm not mistaken, the official Portal servers will allow progression beyond just XP. It's the player-created custom Portal servers that don't which is a real shame.@VBALL_MVP How are the devs blameless? They were the ones who were supposed to have the protections in place to help mitigate this problem but it was clear they didn't. Thomas Anderson even went over this in an interview months ago with Jack Frags. He obviously couldn't reveal any details but they were aware this could be an exploit and said protections would be in place to handle it.Obviously the cheaters are guilty of exploiting Portal with their farms but the rest of us have to pay the price for the developers lack of action to put protections in place to help prevent such behavior. There is a level of culpability on their part here for this particular problem and responsibility of EA / DICE to deal with such issues in their games. ....cheaters, hackers, exploiters, harassment, etc.What gets me is that after the fact they implemented an XP cap that is based on minute by minute activity. However, they still won't allow full progression of Mastery, etc. Why they can't apply similar logic to those is beyond me. It would better than what we have which is nothing. ....except XP of course.

@VBALL_MVP My only issue is, why does it matter if people waste their time doing that? It doesn't make them any better, the challenges in this game are not difficult just time consuming. Does anyone at this point really brag about their rank or mastery as a way to feel better in this game? They have lost so many players, they may as well open everything back up. It might increase the player base again even if it leads to farming.

@babypants1 You realize the tweet I posted about is literally to the right on these forums. If somebody can find their way here, they can see the tweets. I didn't have to go searching on social media.

Also I play games to have fun. This game has really hurt my ability to have fun in it with the major restrictions in solo/co-op and custom portal so I've just been playing games that are fun for me. I am just upset that on day 1, the game worked with full progression, so I bought it after trying it through EA Play, only to feel like I was bait and switched the next day.

@DominickB3 I knew as soon as it was announced that a custom portal with mod imposed rules would be a disaster.

Every server pistol/knife or low health bots or 5000 ticket games you are unlikely to see the end of round

#FridayNightBattlefield is something I am involved with and an old community event with the Battlefield community that we have been running since Battlefield 3 days.

We do it weekly with players all around the world on all platforms. We have people from DICE and EA that join in on the event to have fun with the community.

@DominickB3 Quick question that came to my mind . Did you stop playing other BF When you unlocked everything? Or you kept playing for fun ? There was no progressions in Quake , CS , unreal tournament 2004 or BF2 or BF2 MC and i played These games fir thousands of hours for years ..

@Stew360 I think was most people don't get is, that there is NO progression, playing on non EA portal servers. And the XP gains are cut back so far, it doesn't make sense to use any server that wants you PTFO.

I played BF4 a lot, on a privately managed ranked server with a friendly classic fire enabled rule set, which, despite all rumours spread in this thread, had full progression towards xp, ribbons, weapon and class unlocks and assignments.

One of the points in the BF2042 advertisement was, that Portal would provide us with the same experience. Which, at the moment, it doesn't.

We can't have classic or hardcore ruleset servers and progress at the same time. Alone this fact already made 75% of our community to decide against playing BF2042 at all. That is before we come to all the other issues the game suffers, because it was developed as a Royal game, with lacks lot of quality of life features a Battlefield would need.

Well it did, and some had to ruin it by farming. They tried to give a little and put a cap on it, and I would say that is something better than nothing until they figure something to curb the boosters. While you used to manage a ranked server back in BF4, you had to keep it close to the game modes around to keep it like that, anything outside the boundaries made it a custom with no progression. Here you can still get stuff.
You can still play for fun, I play pretty much strictly portal because I enjoy the custom games and legacy modes like Rush. I am ok with the limited progression because for me fun is playing, if I really cared about the points I will go play their normal modes.

@EA_Atic Hello Atic. I like portal a lot, but I miss people playing it. I also need possibilities to place extraction points or target markers. Ways to instruct ai to follow waypoints. Hope to see more updates for portal soon.
