we are all speculating. So all comments towards this topic are off handed no?
Will it be delayed? Who knows? I hope not but my gut says it will be.
Is it fair to say that factually the initial testing schedule got delayed?
The original EA-communicated technical playtest dates were delayed. Can recall that we had some discussions on that subject in early spring 2042. But cannot recall now the original days. But think it was like 6-8 weeks in total it finally got delayed, but maybe somebody online here can recall the exact original dates and delays?
And the second time around, the technical playtesting that was scheduled for crossplay 2 weeks ago was cancelled for Playstation entirely. So no testing of that have been done out on the open network with a larger test population. No matter how we want to twist that around, that is not a good sign, as PS is still the biggest platform for the BF franchise.
Now we are scheduled to 'soon' do the 'pre-load' of BF2042 down to our platforms from around aka September 3rd, and ideally the early access should be granted 1-3 days later at the max. So we will pretty 'soon' now really see if anything is truly being delayed or not. With official full launch in October, then time has run out for more excuses.
The BF2042 gameplay that we will or we will not be able to get on our local screens in September as part of early access/open beta will be the ultimate testimonial.
- 4 years ago@CyberDyme I agree 100% that this will be the week we find out about the beta testing. If complete silence, I will be worried about the October full release. This may be a December release at the earliest. Pure speculation but I am sold on the PS being the issue right now.

I dont think it will be. I dont think they want a PR nightmare like BFV. But if somethings wrong then we will find out.

It is not going to be delayed and I think I found the reason for it based on what is going on with Halo Infinite.
"We’re at a critical phase in the flight that is Halo Infinite, so it’s extremely important to avoid distractions and stay focused on mission-critical tasks only. For Campaign, that means putting maximum effort into ensuring the wide-open, adventure-filled experience you’ll all get to play on December 8th is a great as it can possibly be. And gameplay demos and trailers not only take a huge amount of effort to do well, they also take cycles away from bugs and other tasks."
I firmly believe that DICE and the others helping them are at the exact same point with Battlefield 2042 right now. This perfectly explains why they wouldn't be able to show anymore gameplay trailers and other stuff like that at the moment.
They are currently focused on making the Beta and the Full Game itself as great as they can be before they are released. So just because we aren't seeing any new gameplay videos yet DOESN'T mean it will be delayed. Because I firmly believe it will all be on time and I am sticking with it 🙂

I’ve heard between 31AUG and 02SEP we will have word, while I know there was a certain thing floating around saying 04SEP beta, I don’t think that’s to far off the mark. They seem pretty confident in themselves this time around, so I am feeling good it isn’t off track.

It's been so long since we've heard ANYTHING AT ALL that I need to go back and rewatch the short films to remember what all of the hype was about😒

7 weeks ‘till launch, and DICE has made how many gameplay videos public?
None - and no public Beta yet either.
That’s worrying, I think.

And now absolute NOTHING on BF2042 at Gamescom!
The biggest global stage for gaming. And nothing from EA on their near flagship game release...
And not a word neither from their franchise partners. Nothing!
Wonder how those partners then evaluate the value of that exclusive partnership, if they are not even allowed to talk about the game they are so proud to support through their technologies? NVIDIA, Polaris, Logitech, MSFT XBox and Western Digital...
So now when EA missed the biggest opportunity for publicity to a mass audience at Gamescom, are we then to figure out ourselves then what that Hazard Zone is all about when we one day will get into the beta gameplay??? The miss-timing of it all and lack of proper follow throughs on tech reveals and communications is astoundingly poor.
