Very curious to know if anyone has an idea if Hardcore mode will make its way into Battlefield 2042. Battlefield V had it come in a very late update. I am hoping it comes right off the start of 2042. I still play BF4 to this day and the Hardcore community is still very strong.
No hardcore mode, no buy for me !
I have bought every game of bf.. most of them save for hardline the premium bundles. 1 and 5 dropped the ball with lack of HC and no third party servers. They sucked. We couldn't check them with procon and hackers are hackers. We couldn't see and we had to assume who was/wasn't hacking. It wasn't true hardcore. I really hope EA doesn't fail us or that's money wasted again.
For the love of god there better be HC mode.
theres 2 things they massively dropped the ball on in the last 2 BFs and probably the main reason the games died within 2 years but those 2 are:
1) No HC mode, people like myself think it’s much better and are too used to it to play normal mode. Almost none of my HC friends played the last 2 BFs. So instead of thinking of it as splitting the community, think of it as adding a player base to the community.
2) This one is underrated I think but the removal of rentable/private/hostable servers essentially completely destroyed the soul of the game.
we all have our gaming buddies that we met by playing in the same clan/team servers and over time you slowly form relationships when you’ve played with the same people enough times.
Those clan servers are where communities, rivalries, the passion and desire to get to the top of the leaderboard formed. A pub game like BF absolutely relies on its major clans/communities and by removing private servers you removed all that.
You basically just jumped into a nameless server with completely random people every time and it made the game pointless to me
I haven’t played BF in a while so I’m not sure if they changed those things but it’s absolutely baffling they could make that mistake in the beginning.
it’s not a game like Fortnite or any other Battle Royals game, so don’t emulate the server structure of those games

1) Im on the same boat. I never likes normal mode (i hate bullet sponges) and always used to play hardcore on bf:bc2 / bf3 / bf4.
2) Not gonna happen. They have Portal Mode for that stuff.
At the very least I hope they had a “Hardcore Preset Button” when creating your own portal mode. There’s lots of people using the tag “hardcore” right now who have there own wacky settings and i just hope we get something to distinguish the actually mode between the custom games so to speak
Hard core mode with both sides using same character models is a recipe for disaster. Better leave that to Portal and having both teams looking very different.
It works in COD, same issue, I'm not a fan of same character models but it works.
But best part is, if someone doesn't want to play HC for any reason they don't have to, and that should be the same for the HC crowd,
we should have the option and portal is just a lazy option, they've had HC in every version since 1, it shouldn't be some big issue for them to keep doing it
especially since they started it essentially.
Just offer an official option and be done with it.
I find only 2 hardcore servers on PC
Hosting HC mode exclusively on Portal has already failed (if this was the plan).
Portal HC servers have been progression nerfed, so players will get less XP and unlocks playing on HC Portal than on All-Out-Warfare.
