    It's absolutely amazing how tone deaf the "help" is here. What game in existence forces you to climb behind your desk and PC, rip out god knows how many cables just to play the game properly. It's not a Windows issue. Yes. Windows is absolute dog$hit at handling USB controllers/devices, but every other game seems to be able to manage just fine without resorting to such time consuming and disruptive "solutions".

    I, on the other hand, have a solution. An annoying one, but a solution nonetheless. Download an app called HIDHide. It can cloak all your connected USB devices from the PC, or from various apps if you choose. You will effectively have ZERO devices connected to your PC as far as Windows and BF are concerned, and you will be able to play as normal.

    The annoying thing is I ALWAYS forget to enable before I play. Which means the first lobby I join results in a loss when I realise I have to leave the game to enable it.

    Honestly, how we have survived this far with awful suggestions to problems is beyond me. Imagine a developer receiving advice from an electric company, for instance, that the only way their work PC would function as intended was to run around their house every morning and unplug every device connected to a wall socket. It's absolutely insane.

Hey @gunslingerau,

It looks like the extra attached, unsupported, controllers (steering wheel, pedals etc.) are the cause of the issues that you are having. It is never really recommended to have multiple input devices connected to your PC, other than the necessary ones, because this could cause issues, either with Windows or certain games.

Unfortunately that's not a solution - due to the way Windows randomly assigns USB IDs, if I unplug my wheel/pedals, I have to then rebind them totally in my racing sims.

Every other FPS on the market has figured out a way to ignore these controllers, except Battlefield. I'm pretty sure I had the same issue with BF4, BF1, and BFV. It's crazy. 

Anyways, I've now figured out how to clear the binds for the controller in most spots, so can use infantry. However, I can't do the same for vehicles or turrets, which means I can't use any vehicles in the game. Really disappointing.

    @gunslingerau make sure config files are renamed/moved , so your start from scratch!

      @Rokebo73 Yeah, I did that - I have now got infantry/on-foot controls to work, but I still can't use vehicles or turrets as the view points either directly up or down. I've tried clearing these controls to no avail.

        (no pedlas , steer, ect ect ect?)

        Tried other usb ports ? reboot system without any "controller" connected
        you got an dxdiag please to post?

        Tried a cleanboot with your system, and without controllers cxonnected ?

    That sounds like a Windows issue, not an issue with the game itself.

      No, the issue is that Battlefield, and only Battlefield, detects other peripherals and they can't be cleared via Battlefield's control options. Every other shooter on the market - CS, Squad, CoD, etc - does not detect the controller.

      It's a Battlefield problem. In fact, I think it's a Frostbite engine problem, as the exact same thing happened with Battlefront.

        @gunslingerau i think you should check your game and windows files for health.
        In origin you need to choose repair , in steam verify game files
        Make sure you clean cache in C:\Users\>USERNAME<\Documents\Battlefield 2042\cache and delete all content.
        Also delete config files from bf2042 in C:\Users\>USERNAME<\Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings.

        Windows healt check with commands below:
        SFC - Windows Health Check

        Press Windows key + 'R' ,typ CMD
        Press and hold down CTRL + SHIFT and press ENTER.
        When User Account Control shows up, click Yes.
        Use the following command lines, pressing Enter after each
        (make sure you wait till each of the commands is executed properly):

        sfc /scannow
        DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
        DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
        DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
        Reboot your system

        Always boot pc without those pedals/steer !
        try a cleanboot to check if any other software got some issues with controllers and game:"

        Hide all Microsoft services, DISABLE (uncheck) ALL other processes, apps and services !

        Cleanboot is just a one time clean boot ! Next reboot all will be reset and a normal boot will be occure.
        Use msconfig to disable apps permanent each for new reboot.
        DISABLE ALL other processes, apps and services from booting with windows, check instructions below:
        Use the keyboard shortcut “Windows Key + R” and the “Run” window will open.
        In the text box, typ MSCONFIG and press Enter or OK and the MsConfig window will open".
        Select the tab STARTUP , and disable apps/programs by right click at them!
        Those disabled apps will no longer boot with Windows , till ya set them enabled again !

        Test again, still a problem do a windows repair , without steer/pedals connected , then try again !

        If there are still issues with game , then it's possible your windows is broken (REINSTALL WINDOWS , DELETE AND ADD NEW PARTITIONS),
        or some bios settings / hardware is incompatible with other hardware and/or settings.
        If nothing else works then do a Repair Install Windows, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems.
