Hey everyone,
I fixed the issue yesterday and wanted to share with you guys how I did it:
- downloaded the 512.95 driver from the Nvidia driver page.
- downloaded the DDU tool (for completely removing any trace and settings of your graphic drivers)
- I then restarted my pc in secure boot mode (win + r type msconfig and select secure boot)
- Executed DDU in normal settings (it's a third party application so use at your own risk)
- Back into msconfig and restarted in normal boot
- Installed the 512.95 driver and tested the game. It was here that my performance increased quite a lot (from 30-50 to 60-70 fps) and I could play on ultra again (with minor stutters tho).
- Updated back to the current 516.59 driver (selected the re-install option while doing so) to see if I notice any differences (there weren't any)
So I would hypothesize that either the driver installation was somehow bugged and reinstalling it fixed it
or that my Nvidia control 3D settings somehow affected the game in a negative way and thus caused the issue
It's important to note that the low FPS only really happened when changing settings to ultra.
So while I'm not sure this is a general fix it's definitely worth a shot for everyone who runs a Nvidia GPU!
