All My Custom Keybinds Ignored During Match
Game has suddenly become unplayable, literally.
My custom key binds are showing correctly in the menu but are being ignored once the match begins. The game just uses all the default binds as if it's not reading my settings file in the documents folder.
Ive never had or seen such an issue before and I've already deleted my Documents> BF20242 folder but was no help.
So after 24 hours I was finally able to get it working. The solution was mind boggling but I'm posting it anyway just in case this might help someone else in the future who finds themselves suffering with the same issue.
So, if you're following this thread the last thing for me to try before giving up (as re-installing my OS is something I'd never bother doing for just 1 game issue) is to uninstall and then reinstall the entire game...which I did last night....but that by itself was still not enough because after binding my keys and mouse buttons, yet again, and then spawning in (for like the 80th time in the last 24 hours of trials) as usual I still could not move using my key binds....only the default "W" key would make my character move.
Now...I have no idea WHY this worked...and in more than 22 years of pc gaming I've never experienced anything like this before BUT...this is what suddenly made everything begin working for me:
The only way it would let me move was to use the default W key...so that's what I started doing...I kept the "W" key pressed and as I began moving, I decided for some weird reason to also press and hold the key/button that I had bound for moving (which was previously being ignored by the game and not working).
So if you can picture this...I was basically holding down BOTH bound move keys at the same time (actually one was the W key and the other was the left mouse click).. and after what seemed a like a second or 2 I just let go of the W key but kept holding down my bound key (left mouse button) and to my surprise I was still moving.
That was it, like magic, from that moment on ALL of my custom bound keys all suddenly began working again.
The Battlefield franchise, from waaaay back, has had some pretty strange key assignment issues as far back as BF2142 that were never fixed. So, after all this game has put me through in the last 24 hours I still have no idea why this worked for me. I only know that it did.
