Audio garbled on Battlefield 2042 after update!

I haven't played Battlefield 2042 since the end of last year. I decided to play, and there was a large patch which I downloaded when playing this evening.  The game loaded fine afterward, but the audio was garbled.  I couldn't hear anything except muffled gunshots.  Audio effects, etc. were completely messed up.  I checked audio settings and adjusted stuff, to no avail.

I'm using Bluetooth headphones and other games as well as music sounds perfect.
