Audio problem and mouse lag (BF2024)

Hello everyone,

I know there is a lot of threats about this issue, but I wanted to share my experience.

I am using a laptop to play BF2042 and I use a USB Hub (Anker USB-C Hub to 4x USB-A) to connect my headphones, mouse and keyboard.

Everything worked perfectly until Season 6, since last weak I am having a lot of mouse lag and audio problems, even playing “solo”.

If I keep playing (somehow) my mouse and keyboard become irresponsive and my character get stuck in the last action (like running or shooting). Also, I lose all audio and the only way to get it back is by closing the game.

My guess is the new anti-cheat app doesn’t like USB Hubs or similar devices. Maybe it identify my USB Hub as a Hacking device.

I have tried to verify file integrity and reinstall the anti-cheat app, but it only last like 5 minutes and the issues come back.

On PC here and get the mushy mouse feel here, they released a fix back end that was supposed to fix some mouse issues, but it still feels mushy to me after the fix.

The season 6 patch really was not tested properly imho and should have never been released.

I know this is no help, sorry.
  • yeah, I have seen a lot of threats (in differents forums) talking about the new Anti-Cheat app.

In my case, I tried to keep playing but I end up locking my laptop and I had do a power cycle and a S.O. repair.

EAAC is currently problematic, for example, for me it causes the sound to cut off for about 0.5 seconds from time to time and the game cuts out for the same amount of time. Probably scanning EAAC to check if I have any plug-ins causes everything to be cut off for a while, although there are moments when I have no problems with the smoothness of the game.

The intermittent mouse and keyboard problem you mentioned was caused by EAAC, after the EAAC patch the problem disappeared for at least most users.

In my opinion, the problem will disappear if EAAC starts working on the same principle as all other anti-cheats, i.e. EA will give up the innovative idea of blocking all third-party applications (even OSD monitoring is blocked by EAAC), without DesktopOverlayHost you will not display anything.

Restoring the ability to change the process priority for BF2042.exe would also improve a lot. High priority sometimes works wonders.

  • Ok. I did some testing.

I remove my mouse from my USB Hub and connected it directly to my laptop.

The mouse lag almost disappeared, but I still got the “audio problem” (Headphones connected by USB Hub).

My conclusion is the new AntiCheat engine doesn’t like USB Hub and block them. The only way to recover my audio is to close the game.

How I am supposed to play the game if I can’t connect all my peripherical. Usually, a laptop doesn’t have too many USB ports.
