Battlefield 2042 - Unable to Send Friend Request Through EA ID

Summarize your bug I am on PlayStation 5 and my friend is on PlayStation 4, we both have crossplay on and so I try to send him a friend request to his EA ID (same as PSN ID), but it gives me this “No players matched the searched criteria: [his EA ID]”. If he instead searches for my EA ID I do appear for him, but he is unable to select me and send me a friend request. Another friend of mine on PlayStation 5 tried to search his EA ID and this time he did appear, but also my PlayStation 5 friend couldn’t select him and send him a friend request. All of us three also tried to find a matching server through the Portal server browser, but we couldn’t find the same one neither with a name search.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Perhaps try to send a friend request from PlayStation 5 to an EA ID that is on PlayStation 4.
What happens when the bug occurs? It makes me unable to send a friend request to an EA ID from a different console and do a Crossplatform Party of PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 players.
What should be happening instead? I should be able to send a friend request to my PlayStation 4 friend through his EA ID and be able to party up together.

    @simomorte You cannot crossplay the PS5 version with the PS4 version, make sure you are running the PS4 version of the game and try and play with him, see if that works for you.

    @ANG3LxDUST Same issue here for me. The only console friends that can see my EA invitations are those whom linked a Xblive or PSn account to an Origin account directly in the past.

    @wezze_D You can try to join the same Portal game and see each other on played with list then try to add friends that way. But as I stated if neither of you have linked your Xblive or PSN to an Origin account someone just may not see the invitation even though you both sent one.

    Have you been able to fix this problem? I cannot find my Xbox friend either.

    EA gives a reasonable answer here: https://help.ea.com/en/help/battlefield/battlefield-2042/battlefield-2042-cross-play/ 

    PS4 players can only match with other PS4 or XboxOne Players due to Hardware performance reasons. However, your friend can download the down-compatible version of the game on his PS5 and then you will be able to play together on 64er Games.

    I truly hope that EA will come up with an interim solution like this for crossplay between older gen consoles and PC, and, at least a way to add and see each other as friends via EA ID.

    Are you sure you installed the Xbox One Series X|S version of the game? I accidentally installed the Xbox One version of the game.  Removing that and installing the X|S version fixed this issue for me.

    Honestly just downloaded this because a friend convinced me too and now I learn this. Screw this game I want a refund.

    @TimMcGrawRulZ So glad I'm not the only one experiencing this, I thought I was going crazy. Hopefully they fix this soon
