    @socialwaif Did ya flash the latest bios ? This for the stability issues with 13th and 14th gen cpu ?
    Some people got this issue solved with a other machine-id in registry !
    Make sure ya updated all drivers (chipset drivers and MEI firmware to).
    What Asus board do ya use ?
    Check windows for any errors with SFC /SCANNOW

It looks like the SFC /scannow may have fixed things. It at least reset my Windows logon sound. I did also finally get around to updating my system's bios

Definitely sounds like a defective 13th gen Intel CPU. Intel extended the warranty to 2 years on 13th and 14th gen CPUs due to manufacturing defects.

Oxidation and over voltage leads to CPU degradation. @Rokebo73 is correct about BIOS updates being rolled out in order to lower the voltage being supplied to the CPU. If you received a CPU with oxidation defects or if the CPU has already suffered damage due to high voltage degradation. Then nothing can be done to solve the CPU instability issues except RMA it under warranty.

The video below shows how to select lower CPU voltage profiles in BIOS. If the CPU is still unstable after selecting a lower voltage profile, then it might already be damaged by voltage or oxidation degradation beyond repair and needs to be replaced under the two year warranty.

You can also try lowering RAM and CPU frequencies to stabilize the system, but replacing the CPU under warranty is recommended.
