Battlefield 2042 doesn't launch (Steam and EA)

The game was bought with steam and used to be launched with steam normally.

The problem occurred yesterday. I was playing normal and quit the game normal. Next time i tried to launch the game, it didn't work.

I wasn't installing, uninstalling or updating anything. I wasn't even restarting my PC. The game just stopped to launch.

What have I tried so far:

  • Verifying and repairing filed with steam;
  • Reinstalling the game with steam;
  • Reinstalling EasyAntiCheat;
  • Reinstalling EA App;
  • Setting a check for running with admin rights for EADesktop.exe, BF2024.exe, EABackgroundService.exe;
  • Adding Electronic Arts and Battlefield 2024 directories to Windows Defender exceptions;
  • Clear EA App caches;
  • Updating Nvidia Driver to the latest version 546.65;
  • Updating Windows 11 to the latest version: 23H2.

Nothing worked for me so far.

    The problem was in the КриптоПро (Crypto Pro) Application which is used for digital signature encryption. I have no idea how it is related, but right after deinstallation and reboot i was able to launch the game instantly. It is also weird, because Crypto Pro was installed alongside with battlefield almost a year without any changes to crypto Pro or battlefield configuration. Anyway, maybe this will help someone. Cheers!

    Glad you got it working @MetalRex101.

    PCs are changing weekly, if not daily, without owner intervention. This is what makes troubleshooting games on PCs significantly more difficult than consoles.
