For some reason Battlefield 2042 is unable to play on ps5 after attempting to download 3.1 update. It says that the game is installed but won't let me launch it. Only happened after installing the new update. I tried deleting the game and reinstalling it but the it's not allowing me to delete it from my console. I quite literally cannot play the game at all so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem except I can’t even update the patch.

Leaning towards just returning the game for a refund and writing off the franchise.
Pretty ordinary user experience on day 1 of purchase.
Did anyone get anywhere with this? I have the same issue, Game installed with more than adequate system storage. Select to Play Game and receive the error message “Can’t start the game or app”, with the code “CE-100095-5” displayed top right. I’ve deleted the game and re-installed several times, i’ve deleted the Beta that i’d previously downloaded, i’ve cleared the system cache and re-built the database - and nothing has worked. I’ve contacted EA support and have just been re-directed to this thread, which is where I started?!? Limited time off work over Christmas to play this is now almost over, really wish i’d opted for Call of Duty…
So EA’s technical help were not very helpful, they confirmed that CE stands for Console Error and told me yo contact playstation. I was convinced it was an issue with the game, not having any problems with any other title and the fact that others were having the same problem.
So I noticed that when installing the game
from the Disc, there was already an update file available (1.000.007) and that would load concurrently. So I deleted the update file and allowed the original disc version of the game to install. This worked and the game
loaded fine. I left my console in Rest mode overnight and when turning it back on I was alerted to the fact that the update file had installed whilst in Rest mode. I nervously clicked on Play Game and to my delight, the game
loaded up fine - so that appears to have resolved the situation…. without having to waste even more hours trying to get hold of Playstation after several hours wasted getting no help from EA. Hope this helps someone.
I can only tell you what "solution" as you put, worked for me and I've explained it step by step and as simply as possible - was just trying to help anyone else in the exact same circumstances. Purchased the disc version on the game, inserted disc, automatically launches two downloads/installations - one being the game from the disc, the other being a game/software update, with both being downloaded and installed concurrently. I deleted the game/software update immediately before it had downloaded/installed, allowing the game to install in its original state, which made it playable. The game/software update didn't appear to break the game when installed after the game had been launched first. I can't explain it any clearer than that, or explain why it works, it seemed logical that the update might be the problem, hence why I tried those logical steps... possibly the game installs fully when launched for the first time, allowing subsequent updates to work.
