Hi LeadM4gnet,
For some reason you're unable to connect to EA's licensing server and the DRM check is failing.
Please make sure you've got things working correctly from an internet perspective, but also check out and delete any files located at C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License.
Afterwards, completely restart the Steam and EA app (I recommend going through your task manager and force stopping anything from EA or EA Background Services).
Restart the Steam & EA app now and hopefully that works.
You'll have to continue working through EA support for this, but best of luck!
Hey brother, I really appreciate you trying to help. I've been AFK for a few days so I apologize that my reply was slow.
1. I searched all over my computer for anything like "C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License" and came up empty. Nothing remotely close to that anywhere.
2. Next I opened task manager and looked for anything running from EA or EA Background Services. Nothing.
3. Then I signed out of Steam and closed it. The EA app wasn't running at the time.
4. Then I signed back in to Steam and EA apps, and tried launching BFV from the EA app. Same as before.
5. Then I tried launching from Steam. Same as before.
6. Then I tried launching from my desktop shortcut. Same as before.
BTW, the EA chat support was very easy to contact and the guy was trying to help until I mentioned Steam. He immediately said EA couldn't help me and sent me a link to Steam "support." Steam sent me right back to EA. Here's the link: https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpContactForTechnicalIssue?appid=1238810&issueid=702
Unfortunately, Steam Support cannot provide the best assistance with games made by other companies.
Please click the link below for information about how to contact the support team for this game.
The links on Steam are these:
https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-5 (three times)
So unless I asked for a refund within the first 14 days Steam is completely useless as far as customer support goes. I know my system and internet are fine because I played all three games for 6 months with no problem. Now I can't launch any of them.
I appreciate your good wishes but I don't believe in luck, and I don't think bad luck caused these games to stop launching. It's a technical issue and apparently Steam can't be bothered trying to troubleshoot such things.

You will need to enable to view hidden files and folders in Windows to go to the ProgramData folder. It is hidden by Windows by default.
You have to have this ProgramData folder, it's required by Windows. You have to have this Electronic Arts\License folder as well, it's required by Denuvo.- 9 months ago
Ah! Thanks for clarifying that step. I had turned on invisible files in the wrong folder earlier. And thank you for helping me with this, you're a legend! Steam support is nonexistent if you don't ask for a refund within two weeks of purchase.
This time I saw six files in that EA License folder and removed them all. I did not delete the folder, just the files.
I then restarted my computer to stop all EA processes and services. I didn't force quit because I was afraid something might be corrupted.
I launched the Steam app and tried to launch BFV. All looked good at first, then a window opened that said "The app crashed unexpectedly but a quick restart should fix it." It didn't. When I click the restart button it opens a clear window with no visible content I attached a screenshot.
Questions:
1. I looked in the Program Files\Electronic Arts folder again and saw no License folder this time. Was a step supposed to replace that when I restarted, or should I create a new License folder and leave it empty?
2. In Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop there are two folders, both with today's date. Should I delete one or both?
1) EA Desktop
2) outdatedEADesktop
3. When I uninstalled all three games and both EA and Steam apps shouldn't that have removed all the bad license files anyway?
4. What do you suggest I try now?
Thanks again,
Lead

You know, I don't want to bother you with a list of questions so I just uninstalled everything again and restarted my computer. I'll try another fresh install and see if that cleans things up. I'll let you know what happens....

OK, I completely uninstalled everything again and restarted my computer. Then reinstalled EA & Steam apps and BFV. Same problem.
Now my C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts folder only has an EA Desktop folder in it. No other folders. No License folder anywhere.
I'm stumped.
