BF 2040 unplayable - CPU 100% and GPU not

There is already a mega thread about this issue.   I just tried to open my own ticket on it.   I'm told it's a bug.   "They are working on it."

I was told to post in the forums to get told the latest status.

I also wish I could refund this game as I spent $100 on it.  I pre-ordered it, but it hasn't worked well ever.   I had faith in EA to fix the issue after a couple months, but now I am too late to actually get a refund because I believed in EA Games.

I really want a refund.

@EA_Leeuw Please help.  I couldn't play for months.  Tech Support said come here for a status update on my "bug" of using the i7-9700 processor.

I used the above config file changes and it worked!  I was able to play for a whole day.    Then, the patch came.   Now I can't play again.

After the latest patch, I couldn't play again.

I went back and changed DX12 to 0 and it is playable.   Not as good and still laggy, but playable.

  • Hello everyone,

TLDR..... Check your CPU temps while playing BF2042, mine was throttling anything after 85'C, ended up 100% on all 32 cores/threads.

I had to let everyone know, I'm running BF2042 on a Ryzen 9 5950x usually 5-10% utilisation, but after the last update it was 100% constantly, was driving me mad, turned out it was down to my failing AIO, it looks like the CPU then the GPU where both thermal throttling, I guess it caused the cores to get pegged with sub stock clock speeds, power etc.

Once my new AIO was installed to cool the CPU and my temps where back under 60 degrees C under load all was back to normal.

    Thanks

    Mark
