BF2042 Corrupt Save Files Bug

Get "corrupt save files" error on launch of BF2042 and can't fix it. Only topic like this here is ghosted from July. I got BF2042 through Steam, made me get EA to launch the game, and the game had 28 minutes (in the main menus) before this error came up next time I launched. I've tried: reinstalling the game, repairing the game via Steam, recovering EA app, repairing EA app via uninstaller, and I'm stuck. The pop-up says "continuing will overwrite the corrupt save file" however doing that bugs the game and I have to forcequit through task manager to close the game. I have also restarted my PC (not related) and no change!
