Bf2042 crash to desktop

For unkown reason bf2042 crashes to desktop.
Did repair game files, did sfc /scannow.
Did chkdsk /f /r
Latest windows drivers and MB drivers installed.
Latest gpu driver (already did ddu in safemode)

Want to know if there is some hardware issue at my system, cause bf2042 is creating crashdumps (included in this post).
Any dev/supporter could ya check those crashdumps and tell me what causes those crashes.
Maybe some hardware is going to be broken , or some unknown system cfg that cause those issues.

Some errors in dxdiag , didnt check / fix them (yet).
Friendly reagrds Rokebo73

Cheers

  • Same here. Game returns to windows, or crash freezing screen and sometimes, crashing, it reboot pc too!

Sometimes it enters the main menu and crashes while loading before to join a game server, sometimes crash occours launching the game (before the main menu is loaded).

Bf2042 reinstalled + all the common actions in these cases done (gpu drivers, game file repairing, dx install etc etc). Nothing helps :(

The game has always run greatly until 3 days ago.

A fast fix would be very appreciated...

    Thanks

Try siging up for their newsletter when the game starts. I did it earlier and it worked right! Just couldn't push maps in my server but I did another tech issue on that one.

  • Game keeps crashing for me as well. Even with the new update.... No error codes or anything just get the boot to the desktop. 14700k and 4090 and it keeps crashing. My wife's 7800x3d and 3080ti keeps crashing. My brother 5700x3d and 7900xt keeps crashing the same way also. Same for my little nephew 5700x3d and 4060ti. My wife and I have both tried everything and have looked deep into the issue and can't fin a solution that works. But just like the hdr bug that took well over a year to get fixed by the incompetent they's and them's woke warrior dei hires at dice I know for a fact this will never be fixed... Might as well move on from it and play other games.

    #### Overall Summary & Issues Found in DxDiag Report

    ### 1. GPU Issues (Possible Mux Error & Driver Check)
    # Possible issue: GPU Mux support reports an "Unknown Error," which may indicate a BIOS setting issue or driver conflict.
GPU Mux Support: Development, None - Unknown Error

    # Check: Driver version appears to be up-to-date, but a clean reinstall may help if experiencing graphical issues.
    Driver Version: 32.0.15.7216

    # No issues: The driver model is WDDM 3.2, which is standard for modern GPUs.
    Driver Model: WDDM 3.2

    # Potential issue: Miracast is not supported, which means wireless display functionality won't work.
    Miracast: Not Supported

    ## Conclusion & Fixes:
⚠️ Check BIOS settings for GPU Mux mode settings.
⚠️ Perform a clean reinstall of GPU drivers using DDU if experiencing stuttering or graphical issues.

    ### 2. Display Issues (HDR Disabled or Incorrect Scaling)
    # Potential issue: HDR-capable monitor detected, but HDR is not enabled in Windows settings.
    Active Color Mode: DISPLAYCONFIG_ADVANCED_COLOR_MODE_SDR

    # No issues: The correct monitor model is detected.
    Monitor Name: ASUS PG32UCDM

    ## Conclusion & Fixes:
⚠️ If HDR is expected, enable it in Windows Display Settings.
⚠️ Check monitor OSD settings to ensure HDR isn’t disabled at the hardware level.

    ### 3. Audio & USB Issues (Possible USB Conflicts)
    # No issues: Primary audio device detected and set as default.
    Default Sound Playback: Yes
    Default Voice Playback: Yes

    # No issues: Audio driver is installed and up-to-date.
    Driver Name: USBAUDIO.sys
    Driver Version: 2024.7.60.8851

    # Potential issue: Multiple instances of Intel HID Event Filter detected, which could cause USB polling conflicts.
Device Name: Intel(R) HID Event Filter

    # Potential issue: Multiple HID devices from Razer detected, which might cause input lag or device conflicts.
    Device Name: Razer DeathAdder V2
    Device Name: Razer Huntsman Elite

    ## Conclusion & Fixes:
⚠️ If experiencing input lag or random disconnections, unplug and replug USB devices into different ports.
⚠️ Check "Device Manager" for duplicate HID devices and remove unused ones.
⚠️ If experiencing audio stuttering, adjust the sample rate in Windows Sound settings.

    ### 4. Network Issues (Outdated Wi-Fi Driver)
    # Potential issue: Wi-Fi driver is outdated (last updated in early 2022), which might cause connection drops.
    Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz
    Driver Version: 22.120.0.3 (Feb 2022)

    ## Conclusion & Fixes:
⚠️ If experiencing slow Wi-Fi speeds or disconnections, update the Intel Wi-Fi driver from the official Intel website.

    ### 5. Storage & Memory (No Major Issues)
    # No issues: C: drive has ample free space.
    Drive: C:
    Free Space: 1675.9 GB
    Total Space: 1906.8 GB
    File System: NTFS
Model: Samsung SSD 980 PRO 2TB

    # No issues: System has sufficient RAM (32GB available).
    Memory: 32768MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 32600MB RAM

    ## Conclusion & Fixes:
✅ No action required for storage or memory.
⚠️ If experiencing slowdowns, check SSD health using Samsung Magician Software.

    ### Final Recommendations
✔ Check GPU Mux error in BIOS settings (if using a laptop).
✔ Enable HDR if expected (via Windows Display Settings).
✔ Check USB conflicts (multiple HID devices detected).
✔ Update Intel Wi-Fi driver (outdated since 2022).
✔ Perform a clean GPU driver reinstall if experiencing graphical issues.

Just wanted to hop on here after 2 days of troubleshooting trying to play after building a new PC.  Main thing is AMD Graphics card as I think Nvidia updated theirs and I have no problem on my PC's with RTX cards in them. Windows 11 24H2 definitely broke something with Adrenaline.  Had this same error. Tried the 95 things listed on 5 different forums and nothing works.  I could either get into a game and it would boot me after 5 -10 minutes or, I would get the Direct X error above.  What 100% worked for me, was using DDU to uninstall AMD drivers.  Then I used windows update to and downloaded Windows AMD drivers.  Do not download Adrenaline 24.12.1 if you want to play this game on 24H2, just use Windows AMD signed driver from Windows update.  Then...Wait until the newest AMD drivers release here soon hopefully.

  • same issues, after windows 11 update 24h2 -- try revert windows update (if you have a restore point :D)

most ppl have the same issue.
moving the folder or editing the profile saves brings nothing. still crashing. same thing with adding more virtual memory. i also reinstalled dx12, all drivers and even bf2042 and my whole windows. EA definetly messed up the update so its actually unplayable. but hey... as long as there are people paying for skins, even without playing... they will not react to it, like always :D so maybe we all stop paying them, and maybe they listen to us. but i dont thing so :D
so its a waiting game. like always. play something else guys meanwhile... in a couple month, its maybe fixed :D

  • Try moving the Battlefield 2042 folder out of Documents so the game starts with default settings. If it doesn't help then move the folder back into Documents.

  • I have exact same issue. I have no idea what is going on. All of this started after the last update.
GPU drivers are up to date.

How can I share my crashdumps? I tried to attach but it does not work, probably the format is not supported on this forum for whatever reason.
