BF2042 Update Won't Download

Uninstalling from EA app left me in a state where I could not even redownload it.

Installed from Origin and everything has been fine.  Worried about how it will behave next patch, but EA support and proactive acknowledgement of these issues is hovering around 0% which tells me this is relatively rare or they don't have a system to capture this feedback and get it to someone who cares.

I have 300GB free on that target drive when it give me the error.

Have not been able to play BF2042 since the update, because the update won't download and install.

1. Launch EA App
2. Click "Play" action for BF2042
3. Error:  BF2042 Needs an Update
4. Error:  Attempting to update from the screen below closes the window and takes no action.  

(Game is installed to default location:  C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2042)
