BF2042 Wont Launch After Repairing In Origin 👎

I experienced this (extremely tilting) issue when I first purchased it maybe 4 months ago. I was able to fix it eventually using the EasyAntiCheat repair tool.

Fast forward 4 months.

It's been running excellent.

Today I switched the monitor to my 1080p 240hz monitor located above my 1440p 100hz monitor. I wanted to test the experience on the smaller screen with the higher refresh rate. When doing this I noticed that when gaming in FullScreen mode my mouse would still move to another monitor. This would tab me out if I clicked off screen and that was messing up my game play experience. After tweaking my display settings in game and in windows I couldnt figure out why it was behaving this way. I ensured all ingame overlay settings were off and no luck.

Thus, here's where I messed up. I decided to do a REPAIR in Origin as that was suggested by an admin in a thread on this site regarding mouse issues.

After running the Repair, the game now crashes at launch - just as it did when I first installed.

I have installed nothing new, there has been no changes to my rig. The game was working fine today. I was only curious why the mouse was leaving the monitor.

Now it wont launch.

The EasyAntiCheat pops up, then the BF screen launches all black windowed mode then disappears and nada its gone.

In task manager Easy pops up with Very High power usage, then 2 instances of BF follow then disappear. One instance has the Icon and name, the other instance just has the icon. They disappear within 1-2 seconds.

1. I run it with Admin Privledges.

2. I have uninstalled and repaired the EasyAntiCheat.

3. I have turned off all windows defender elements.

4. I have deleted the cache files.

5. I am loosing my mind.

I should not have to jump through an obstacle course of clickbait articles and videos just to play a game that I paid for. I should not have to reinstall windows, or go the extra mile in any way. This is all ridiculous. I actually cannot believe I am having to post an article on this site.

(For the record, my steam works flawlessly, always has, never have any issue with any of my other games. Only BF2042.)

My rig incase you ask, (even though the game ran flawlessly a few hours ago)

CPU: Ryzen 9 5950X 16core

MOBO: MEG X570S ACE MAX

GPU: 2080Supers in SLI (likely doesnt support SLI but still worked excellent) - [no overclocking]

Ram: 64GB

Windows 11 Pro 64bit

All my drivers are up to date.

I would rather get my money back then reinstall windows or even consider anything drastic like that when literally everything else I have on my system is flawless.

I am at my wits end. Please help!

Hey @ZAYZ007,

Sorry to hear that you are having this issue.

Just to get a clear picture; am I right in saying that you play BF2042 through Steam? If yes, is that also the one and only launcher where you own the game on?

Negative, Origin. I only mentioned Steam because I have no issues with any other games I play. BF is the only title i have in Origin.

Here is a list of things I have tried:
1. Uninstalled reinstalled BF
2. Uninstalled reinstalled Origin
3. Moved Origin and BF to a different drive
4. Uninstalled reinstalled EasyAntiCheat
5. Repaired EasyAntiCheat
6. Deleted all BF Cache
7. Deleted all BF Program Data files
8. Deleted EasyAntiCheat sys file
9. Set EasyAntiCheat to run automatic vs manual
10. Performed a clean boot
11. Set BF + Origin + EasyAntiCheat to run as administrator
12. Repaired again, even though this is what broke the game
13. Ensured Game Mode is Off
14. Ensured all overlays are turned off - I never use them
15. Turned off windows defender
16. Ensured all drivers are up to date
17. Ensured windows 11 is up to date
18. Ran checkhealth scans as per other threads
19. Ran disk scans as per other threads
20. Deleted EAC manually as per other threads
21. Performed clean install of all NVIDIA drivers
22. Enabled Secured Boot in Bios
23. Deleted Profile_save
24. Deleted EA and Resinstalled Origin
25. Reinstalled C++ depositories
26. Tried to run on a different user profile - same

Correct me If I'm wrong but isn't Origin discontinued/ no longer supported? Use EA app and see if the problem persists.

I installed EA eariler today, no change. I repaired in EA, and repaired EAC again. No dice.

Hey @ZAYZ007,

So you still had Origin installed, right? And now you changed to the EA app?

Did you also completely uninstall Origin?

I was using Origin as my launcher.
I repaired in Origin. The game broke and wouldnt launch after that.
Above you will see all the different things I have tried.
I did completely uninstall origin, and installed EA. Same issue.
So I have completely uninstalled EA and went back to Origin. Same issue.

@ZAYZ007, how exactly did you uninstall Origin, if I may ask? Did you do this via the default Windows Apps & Features process, or did you use something like Revo Uninstaller?

I have the feeling that there are still some leftover files of Origin on your PC, that is now particularly causing these issues.

@EA_Leeuw Using the windows app uninstaller. What would you suggest?

Are you thinking that Origin is breaking the game?

- What files does it download when repairing vs the files it downloads while repairing in EA? Are they different sources? Because I experienced the same issue using both launchers, and the first time was a new install of Origin .

I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I love BF2042. Im new to the community. The game doesnt get the respect it deserves, and I want to help change that but not being able to launch leaves me dead in the water.
