Black screen and or freeze
I re installed battlefield 2042 July 30th. I'm able to play one match when the match ends I see the ribbon score screen the battle pass score screen then after that it goes to black screen with sound...
@Pyro2120 @ANG3LxDUST are you running the RAM in dual channels (A1 and b1)?
When the game crashers how much ram is the system using?
/Atic
@EA_AticI'm running 4 sticks of ram, so A1/A2/B1/B2 are being used. Also ove booted my computer using 1 stick so I know my ram is fine. I've tried playing with 2 sticks same issues. Battlefield 2042 DOES NOT CRASH. A BLACKSCREEN WITH INGAME MUSIC PLAYING IS NOT A CRASH. But to answer your question it's anywhere from 10000mb to 12000mb
It's not a PC issue, it's a server issue.
I am getting the same sort of thing on PS5.
Re: Anyone else getting strange "blackout" screens when loading maps? - Answer HQ (ea.com)
Kap.
So I thought I was the only person getting this for a couple of months...turns out I'm not.
I have concluded that it must be one of these issues:
- my older CPU 4790K (which is below spec but ran fine before July) is having issues with some new instruction set that only BF2042 uses after Update 1.0
- Something in windows 10 causing a conflict (cannot upgrade to 11 with this CPU but no issues in any other title/program)
- My Broadband speed/ping. I'm running on ethernet but I only get 26mb download...however all worked fine previously.
- Easy anti cheat...not based on anything but I have no idea what it is actually doing in the background
- Server issue...it only happens on loading map or menu and don't know if there is some verification going on between server/client that is carping out.
- Game issue...which is probably only affecting 2% of players and is probably some hardware/software conflict
I have done every possible troubleshooting thing that I can...please don't tell me another basic one, I'm an IT systems guy, I have done it!
The only thing I haven't done is reinstall windows and that is not happening because I cannot get one game stable! (a mechanic doesn't rebuild his workshop because he cannot get one car working)
I have never once had a mid round/game crash (which is a miracle) but I do get the Black Screen at the end of match (after BattePass page before coming back to main menu) and I get loading issues on the map loading screen (the plus icon freezes and the sound stops)
It happens at random...I can play 10 rounds perfectly and then on the 11th it will stop. Alternatively it can happen on the first round of a session and keep happening every other round...I have ended BF2042 with task manager so many times now that I have got a batch file to do it quickly!
My defeatist thoughts are that this issue will never get addressed...not enough people have it and not enough to allocate resources to fix it. Would love to be proven otherwise but i have seen too many people sending DXdiag reports and not one single solution, just a try this!
I have liked BF2042 since the start...not perfect but getting better all the time. I hate that 6-7months in, after playing perfectly (albeit slowly on my old machine) I have started getting these issues and I'm starting to realise that I need to look to playing something else until I get a new PC and hope it isn't an issue after that.
I stopped playing late December early January due to the game being boring not because of this black screen or map loading screen freeze. I re installed the game July 30th and have been experiencing the black screen after the battlepass score screen. This is not the players hardware issue. The fact I reinstalled windows (which deletes everything off your computer) and only have steam origin nvidia driver and bf2042 installed says alot. No overlays are on. A clean boot will not solve the issue. Nothing the player does will fix this problem. I have a strange feeling that when DICE releases everything that was promised they will then end support for the game. So then I'd assume they will not try to fix this problem.

@BuNgLelove69what gpu are ya running, just curious, my brother got also a lot of issues with bf2042 , black screen, ctd, directx removed device blablabla
I have an RTX 2070 + 16gb ram (ddr3)...it is annoying for sure.
(tried 4 different drivers before anyone else asks)
yeah it seems 1080 / 1080i got issues in the bf2042 game
my younger brother got blackscreens and directx/driver errors every game he plays !
@Rokebo73Wasn't like this during early access to late December early January. People with 2070s and up have this issue to. The game is a pile of *
@Rokebo73 @BuNgLelove69 @Kaptyn027 @Pyro2120 where did you guys buy the game? steam? origin?
origin
Same issue for me. I havent had a single problem with this game until the last month. Been playing it since early release. Now all of a sudden its unplayable because my game locks up in between map changes 80% of the time. i5-7600k here.
I downloaded throttlestop and turned the turbo time limit all the way up(make sure you save it so when you open throttlestop you wont have to adjust the slider) and I was able to play multiple games in a row with no blackscreen or freezing issue. Idk if I just had a good night with bf2042 or if this is some sort of bandaid on the problem. I'll test it out more tonight and this weekend. My monitor has its own framerate display, so when a map would be loading the frames would drop down to 10 and shoot back up to 100+, when the frames drop to 10 that's when the game would freeze. also my fans rpm would drop when that happens, that's how I always new it was going to freeze. When I have throttlestop with that slider maxed out the frames would drop to 10 but it would push thru it and shoot back up to 100+(normal) and actually load the map and let me play. Basically what I do is open up throttlestop and then minimize it and then load up bf2042. Yall can try it and let me know. @AOD_gregers05 @Rokebo73 @BuNgLelove69 @Kaptyn027 @Pyro2120 sorry if you are on console.
@Pyro2120Turbo time limit keeps your cpu from throttling due to power. It could raise your temps I think so it would be a good idea to have hwinfo64 installed so you can monitor your temps with throttlestop running and the slider maxed out and do a stress test and make sure your cpu temps are under 90°c. My personal max temp for my cpu and all the cores is 85°c I don't like going higher than that. I have an i5 6600k overclocked to 4.7ghz and my temps are max 83°c air cooled full load stress test. I average 69-75°c while playing bf2042. the i5 6600k max TDP(watts) is 95.0w..when stress test my cpu will average 82-84watts
@ANG3LxDUSTi had only once Blackscreen, and an hour later i did get directx / device error remove.
But i pretty sure i got issue with different brands/vendors of ARBG/RGB software installed (known and unknown).
Deleted all the ARGB/RGB software (even the hidden/silent sh.it) and it solved my issues.
Got no cpu/gpu/mem/oc issues at all , i never did (till this argb/rgb software messed up my system lol)
@ANG3LxDUSTno i dont. Blackscreen and Directx or device removed , could also be your MEM ! My younger brother used MEM that wasnt supported for his MB , did run other games , but at BF2042 he had all those errors !
Didnt OC mem nothing , but just wasnt compatible with his board, maybe check website from your motherboard and see if your MEM is in the SUPPORT MEM LIST
1
And remembert what i said , he got black screen, qtd no error, directx errors and device removed error <-- all by NOT supported mem at his Motherboard !
He just got a whole new system , and got sh.it from day 1, after 2 weeks in a row with issues he did buy the correct MEM , all issues are history
!!!!
@ANG3LxDUST yeah , but a new system with ddr5 memory need to run also well , without issues.
But if ya got issues from day 1 with bf2042 , then there is something wrong !
And he fixed it just by getting new - supported mem, and able to OC his system now Wink
@Rokebo73I never had issues with bf2042 from day one...
issues didn't start till July when I re installed the game. I played early access till late December early January with NO PROBLEMS I've said this like a thousand * times. You people don't read at all
