Cache folder stuttering

Can't find anything about. Could anyone from Dice explain why the game start to stutter after cache folder gets more than 500mb of files. With 800mb stuttering a lot.

When we clean the folder game gets smooth again. I already tried clean Shader Cache before clean bf2042 cache folder and dont work.

My setup is ryzen 5600x + rx 6600xt + 2x8gb ddr4 3000 cl15 + nvme 3500mb/s not full.

Already tried format PC but is the same when cache folder gets 500-800 stuttering mess start.

Hey everyone,

In Update 1.1 (which went out on Wednesday) we made changes to Shader Caching which should result in a performance improvement. For this to work it does mean ensuring that you provide full read/write access to your Documents\Battlefield 2042\cache folder, and that you don't delete it.

You might notice that the first load and playthrough of a level where the cache is being populated might still have some stuttering (hence the request not to delete the folder). However, any plays after that should feel much smoother.

As a side note, if your Documents folder is automatically syncing with OneDrive then it can also cause an impact to performance.

Lastly, curious to hear how overall performance is for you after the Update. Please do let us know if you have any further thoughts or feedback!

I have created a batch file that cleans up the folder and then starts BF.
(added sample coding below; create .txt file, copy coding into file, replace folder path, save and rename file to .bat)

Summarize your bug Cache in D:\Users\XXXX\Documents\Battlefield 2042\Cache is causing stutter. When this directory is emptied, stuttering goes away until cache is rebuilt.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Clear the cache folder.
What happens when the bug occurs? When playing... all throughout play.
What should be happening instead? No stutter.

Oddly, the game is MUCH smoother when the cache directory is empty.
This seems counterintuitive to the purpose of the cache, but it's true.
Some more details:
Battlefield is installed to a G drive which consists of a Patriot VPN100 M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3 x4, NVMe 1.3 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) VPN100-1TBM28H.
Windows 10 is installed on a C drive which consists of a Patriot VPN100 M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3 x4, NVMe 1.3 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) VPN100-1TBM28H
However, my Users dir exists on a D drive which consists of a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E2T0B/AM). This is where the Battlefield 2042 cache directory resides.

Test 1
As a test, I created a symbolic link to move the D:\Users\XXXX\Documents\Battlefield 2042\Cache dir to the G drive.
Tested, stutter still existed.

Test 2
Created a 4GB RAM drive. Created a symbolic link to move D:\Users\XXXX\Documents\Battlefield 2042\Cache to the RAM drive.
Tested, stutter still existed.
WHAT FIXES IT?
Clear cache directory, stutter is gone temporarily, but returns the next play session. To work around this, I would delete the contents of the cache dir before playing. This proved to be tedious, and consequently, was creating unnecessary writes to the disk.
MY TEMPORARLY SOLUTION
Deny all access to the cache folder. (By changing folder permissions to Deny for "authenticated users") Writes stop occurring, stutter goes away, no need to clear directory. It's a win/win/win situation.

@c0ldsunit didn't work , the game will create it again and use this folder which located at document forever. the game just read the cache located at document

@GVlXxf Hi, yes, it will re-create it again, you cannot disable this.. it's only for the stuttering at the startup of the game. I could never played the first round properly because of stuttering; deleting the cache before each session solved this problem.

I have the same problem since the game has been released. I have a 5900x + 6900XT. Isnn't there ant solution yet?

Just like in the title - I had to debug some problems that I had and found out that clearing cache completly fixes my stuttering issues with this game:
empty bf2042 cache folder in 'my documents'
clear cache in radeon settings
clear origin cache
restart the pc
Following these steps will allow me to play the game without any kind of stuttering (even on 128ppl maps in crowded areas with tons of explosions), but just after restarting the game it begins to terribly stutter - so bad that I would rage quit and uninstall the game (happened a few times since launch).
I tried it 3 times in a row and it works every time - just like restarting the game (kinda)works every time.
Does anyone has the same problem / solution?
Hopefully this post will lead to a better gaming experience for everyone (once they fix the issue).
My main specs:
I5-12600K (overclocked to 5.0GHz flat, E-cores off)
RX 6600XT (slightly overclocked)
4x8GB=32GB 2933MHz RAM (wasn't stable at declared 3200MHz)
computer is stable in 99.9% of games and aplications - crashes from time to time, ONLY in Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 2042
