Cannot add EA Friend from crossplay

Summarize your bug I am trying to play with a friend that is on Xbox X/S. He and myself is on EA play app as friends, steam, xbox, etc.. But we still cannot search for each other. We also have cross-play enabled and privacy set to open. Idk if there is a bug going, but if anyone has a way to find a fix to add each other that would be awesome.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Add a friend from a different system.
What happens when the bug occurs? Does not appear.
What should be happening instead? Friend should appear.

    Hi @x2byTwo, Gen 4 and PC cant play together. Its pc and Gen5 that can.

    You need to add each other as EA friends in-Game

    Thank you for the response, @EA_Atic . I just got in touch with him again, He is using the Xbox Series X that should be Gen 5. What is truly strange is that his xbox account is linked to his EA play account but I still cannot search him or him me as EA friends.

    Im having the same issue here, the weird thing is that I (ps5) added my friend (PC) and played together for a while, we both got off and later the same day we tried to play and his name would no show up in my ea friends list, or my name in his. We tried adding each other and we both kept getting the same error.

    The player on console needs download Origin on your Mac/PC or go to origin.com and add them as a friend.

    I'm unable to play my son in 2042. I'm on a series s. He is on PC. We are both on game pass ultimate. When searching for our ea tags we get no results. We have crossplay enabled on the game. We have perfect settings on ea to allow for our profiles to be visible. This has effectively destroyed my Christmas experience.

    @123KANDEMACKJACK

    Add him on Origin and then login to his account on Origin as well to accept the friend request. Also as another user stated above, are you sure he is running the XS version of the game and not the XB1?
