Cannot join a game server as a party or join a friend's game server

This is still happening to me and my friend i bought it on sale and got a copy for my friend via steam and we cant even play together only one of us makes it into a match while the other is booted back to lobby not sure why bugs like this persist after so long but im trying to enjoy them game but its just not possible if i cant play with the people i want to.
