Can't close game. Can't terminate process.
When I exit BF2042 the game is in my task manager using a high amount of CPU. I can't terminate it via task manager.
I've tried
- Killing all process trees
- Using forced taskkill via command prompt (Said that it couldn't find the running task)
- Using wmic to delete the process (Which shows a successful execution but the .exe is still in task manager)
It still remains on task manager. EAC closes fine.
On shutdown, my PC stays on. The keyboard, mouse, and monitor shut off, but the tower itself still runs. I am forced to press the power button to shut it down, which sounds pretty unhealthy for the longterm.
My specs:
i7 6700k
GTX 1070
16GB RAM
Z170a Gaming M7 Motherboard
I installed BF2042 via Steam on a separate SSD other than Origin's or Steam's .exe
Strangely, as of right now, the issue isn't happening anymore. The only thing I changed is allowing BF2042 to communicate through my private network via Windows Firewall. However, I'm not sure if that is the solution.
When the problem did occur, what happened was that the game's window closed, but the .exe remained on my task manager with high CPU usage. I would have to force end the task for those reasons. The PC tower did not fully shut off when it happened at the time.
