Character keeps moving without keyboard input

Hey Forum

I am having issues with bf2042 where my character keeps moving in all directions without input from a second up to 5+ seconds ever since season 4 update. Sometimes if I press multiple buttons synchronously one after another (e.g., moving forward, left, back and jump) my character would do them but with 1-5+ second delays between each one?

  • I have tried going into system configuration and disabling apps to see if they are interfering and this still has not fixed the issue.
  • I have updated all my windows and nvidia drivers to latest ones.
  • I have tried unplugging my thrustmaster t16000m flight stick from the PC and this not helped.
  • I have repaired the game files in steam this has not helped.
  • I have reinstalled bf2042 and this has not helped.
  • I have tested my keyboard (Razer BlackWidow) in other games fps games and is working fine.
  • My mouse is working fine in other games too as above.
  • My cpu usage seems to float around quite a bit from like 8-80% but majority of time stays at around 50-60% during real game time.
  • GPU usage seems to float around 60-95% and very rarely hits 100%.
  • VRAM is at around 90% with times at 95%.
  • I have tested my network connection and it is running fine.
  • No downloads in background occurring at time of game.
  • I have lowered graphical settings from ultra, this has not helped.
  • At one stage in game I was running up a hill and it was doing it without any keyboard input for about 5 seconds 2 times and my cpu usage then was 55% and gpu usage was 75%.

System specs:

CPU: i7 9700k

GPU: Asus Evo RTX 2080 super OC (8G)

Motherboard: Asus TUF z390 gaming wifi

Ram: 32G Corsair Vengence DDR4

PSU: Corsair HX850W

Any help would be appreciated 🙂. I have attached a dxdiag file.

I highly doubt it is my system as it is handling bf2042 with the performance numbers being recorded as above. The only thing I can think of is during season 4 there was a significant boost in player count due to bf2042 being free on PS Plus and am thinking it is due to server lag on EA's end????

  • @CashKing316  lower resolution ingame and desktop
    Current Mode: 3440 x 1440 (32 bit) (120Hz)
    Native Mode: 3440 x 1440(p) (59.973Hz)

also update youre system drivers , check website from vendor (chipset drivers ect ect ect)
Disconnect all hardware thats not needed <-- when pc is shutdown
Only keep mouse / keyboard / headset and 1 monitor connected
Boot system , windows will make some changes, now reboot again and test game !

    Cheers

PS record a movie / screenshots with NETWORK BAR / GRAPH enabled ingame and post them please !

So consoles are having the same issues? I've always thought it was a server issue with lots of traffic. Have you checked for controller stick drift? It is a common issue on PS5 controllers.

  • Thanks for your reply. I will try that in the next day or two and get back to you.

  • Hey Rokebo

I have tried all suggestions and nothing has worked thus far.

The things I have noticed are:

    • When a server is roughtly 1/4 full and rest bots I have a lot less episodes.
    • As a serve is filling up with players than the episodes of character moving without keyboard input increases.
    • I have nil issues in private servers by myself.
    • when I fly a heli/jet with thrustmaster t16000m or m&k rarely occurs (only 1-2 times).
    • when I play on a smaller server even less incidents occur.
    • I have attached a couple of pictures during an episode, I had to decrease quality to 720p hopefully you can see numbers.

    thanks.

@CashKing316   ok ya did lower the resolution <-- at desktop and ingame ?
Disconnected all hardware so only 1 mouse, 1 keyboard , 1 headset are connected ?
Did reboot system and did not connect any other hardware ?

Download and use HWINFO64 portable , check sensors only in app
Now test game m, and watch for temps, mhz from cpu - memory and gpu , and if possible any voltages.

Update us what ya see during game test !!!

    Thanks

ps if there still is still an issue , do this also:

    Cleanboot / Msconfig

reboot pc by a clean boot:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd
Hide all Microsoft services, DISABLE (uncheck) ALL other processes, apps and services !

Cleanboot is just a one time clean boot ! Next reboot all will be reset and a normal boot will be occure.
Use msconfig to disable apps permanent each for new reboot.
    - In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    - On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    - On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    - Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    - Close Task Manager.
    - On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.
